Never heard of dwarf manzanos. Have you looked it up in google?

I grew this once upon a time. Be careful, it is highly susceptible to Sigatoka and Panama Disease (fusarium wilt). Mine was killed by the one/two punch of these banana killers.

It is a real variety that apparently is very popular in Hawaii. I actually found a source for it but it is going to cost me an arm and a leg to get it here.

Do you think that the fusarium wilt we be an issue for me growing it in NY, or is that a disease that is in all climates? I think I actually have heard of the vusarium wilt. Never have heard of the Sigatoka though.

oh. Since it's expensive and are known to get sigatoka and panama disease like Harry mentioned, I wouldn't take the chance. I've heard of panama disease, but not sigatoka either. I'll look it up. How about the regular manzano bananas? Are those also susceptible to getting those diseases also? I would like to get one this spring. It's my favorite type of banana. :)

I cannot help you there. I didn't even consider the standard manzano because of the mature height. I got an wesome deal on them. I just hope I can get them before someone beats me to them!
You living in your zone should have no trouble finding the dwarf manzano for a cheap price.

Hawaiian apple is the Brazilian banana.

Manzano is a different banana.

I grow both. My Manzano is has fruit on it right now....we'll see if it survives the winter.

I have a manzano but no pups

We got one from a local nursery here in Kailua. Ours is currently 6 1/2 feet tall and still growing. No bananas yet.
