We buy frozen Goya banana leaves to make Pasteles for holidays. Also, use small pieces of leaves in spanish rice. IT adds a nice subtle flavor.

Ethan,the topping is Walnuts. I feel like I want to plant more bananas and add Taro too Andrew! Its fun to see her use plant parts that arent the fruits for cooking.

Mango-It might be worth a cross country ticket to fly. It was THAT good-lol.

I've started filling in near the base of some of my fruit trees with herbs and sometimes vegetables. Plus I've started picking up interesting tubers like oca, yacon and hopefully crosnes to round out the eventual smorgasbord. I have ti and banana leaves but I wonder if cardamom leaves may be used? They have an incredible cinnamon smell when crushed.

More info: My wife took the dish to a mostly Filipino lunch and she said that this type of banana leaf gave a very good flavor to the desert. I thought all banana leafs were as good as the other.
So,there you go-Ensente is better to cook with than Musa. Now,you didn't know that did you? lol.
