How do you use this pot inside a pot?

justintx

Ok, ignorance illumination time. I bought a pretty little pot that has a "liner". The "liner" appears to be porous. Can you fill the outer pot with water to let the water seep through to the inner pot? Or else, please explain how to use it.

DANG!!! Did somebody holler, "DOG PILE J.D.!!!!!"?

Now, you bunch of "smart alecks", what is this and how do I use it? The water will go through the inner part when watering from the top.

Methinks that's an african violet pot, JD. Yes, I think the water will go through. Need plants that like to be moist. It's a purty pot.

  • bossjim1

Gee! That's neat, but I've no idea how it's suppose to work. Sorry.
    Jim
    PS Good photos JD!

What a cool pot! As the inner pot is not glazed, I think it would wick water from the glazed pot.
Jade plant is a desert type plant and may not need that much moisture.
Sorry JD, I just couldn't pass that one up.

WHAT'S WITH ALL THE FAKE ANIMALS!!!

I'd use that pot for a Bromeliad. Can't drown em.PJ

Poor JD.....you get picked on almost as much as PJ.
It is a lovely african violet pot. They're made that way, because african violets are not supposed to be touched or get water on the leaves or flowers.

Awww, JD now I feel bad. We were just funnin' ya. You know what they say....If we didn't like ya, we wouldn't bother with it.

I agree with the answers given above that it's a good pot for an african violet and that it will be too much moisture for your jade.....

Jolana, your ferns are sitting in a tub over there awaiting your arrival ;). See, I resisted the temptation to slip them in my truck when I left, aren't you proud???

Hehehehe, Carrie, I'm saying this in front of you, lol

She asked me one time if I wanted a *few* plants, I said yes, lol
She sent them with her nephew that lives not too far from me.
He called and told me he was back. I went to get them and they filled up my truck, lol I almost went in my car, they would never have fit
I told her nephew, she was only supposed to send a few, he laughed and said, I had to tell her, that's enough, lol
    We love you Carrie.

  • remuda1

    "We love you Carrie."

Thanks, guys! But it makes me happy to give you plants, and I know they will have a good home. Jolana has given me quite a few as I recall, and some of them are blooming now. Got my window boxes filled, Kristi, and they look so pretty - I put sweet alyssum by the diascia - very impressive, if I do say so myself. I was so full of ideas this morning before the rains started, so guess I will just have to write them down.
