Depends somewhat on the size and weather conditions. Thinner is more subject to wind damage, for one thing, and thicker is better in colder areas.

3.5 mil is ok for home gardeners, with 5 mil better for colder areas.

For a true commercial use, such as in a wholesale/retail nursery, I would opt for 5 mil, as the cost difference isn't that much, and it will last longer, and provide better winter protection.

Of course, the covering is only part of the story of setting up a greenhouse.

Wish I had room for one, myself. Have to wait until I move again, and hope for the space then.

.3 mil greenhouse film is what I use. I order it on a 100' X "whatever you want" roll from BWI, the wholesale supply company.

It is tough, tough, and we use it for as many as 3 years. We take it off in the warm months.
