attic insulation opinions please

If you even call it an attic. Basically it's just space between the ceiling and roof. No room for storage like a regular attic and access is very limited.
Our house was built in 1964.
We had Cellulose blown-in once years ago and it's pretty much deteriorated.
Applegate cellulose is supposed to be much better.
So, opinions on Fiber glass or Cellulose blow-in Insulation please.

I'm not sure what kind we had blown in about 4 years ago... but its made a huge difference in temps and in outside noise reduction.

Unless its raining really really hard we have no idea unless we just happen to look out a window. Same thing for hail.. unless we happen to be close to a window we won't hear it at all.

Do you remember what company you used?
We're getting bids on both types from Nico's Insulation.
They were highly recommended by our Air Conditioning guy.
I hesitate about the Cellulose because of what we got last time.
Applegate supposed to be really good and the guy doing our estimates said we really don't have the space we need for good ventilation if we go with fiber glass.

I'll see what I can find out about them... Hubby handled it all so I have no contact info in my own home improvement files.

I do remember they were a great group of guys .. all family I think.

Now I remember that we had the radiant barrier done at the same time as the blown in insulation.

Looking to create a conditioned space in our 80 year old home in the attic. Currently unvented and no insulation.
Debating sprayfoam as we have kids and are worried about offgassing etc...
Looking into rigid foam in the rafters - which re 2x6- which are foil faced so that it provides radiant barrier as well. Figure 4 inches of super tuff r at r-13 for a 2inch board will give it an r-26 plus one inch over the rafers at an r-3 to get to r-29

    Any opinions would be appreciated

Cellulose insulation is heavy and will deteriorate over time. You should be able to install blown in insulation with no problem. The contractors that install cellulose will say all kinds of things to make you think that fiberglass insulation will not be effective but if you can blow cellulose insulation, you can blow fiberglass insulation. Fiberglass insulation will not deteriorate like cellulose and does not create all that dust that comes from the cellulose insulation being made of ground up newspaper and cardboard. Do yourself a favor and blow you in some good ol fiberglass insulation. You will be glad you did.
