got pulled over for speeding...

The officer was young and kind of sweet looking. It was the first thing I noticed. I didn't see us passing any cars,or anything noticeable, so I innocently asked him why he pulled us over. He said we were doing 55 in a 45. DH swore (later to me) we were only doing 50.

The officer asked to see our ID and asked about our CA driver's licences(did we still live there?). He noted that we hadn't been here very long and told us,"Don't speed here in TX". Then let us go with a warning. Is that a TXPD "Welcome to TX play nice" howdy do???? I was surprised he let us go myself! PJ

With that CA license etc, good thing you didn't have any "cuttings" in the back seat!!! LOL
I'm surprised he let you go, too. Did you offer him some flame acanthus or something?

He let go pretty easy. Every state I have ever lived requires you to change your DL within 30 days. I am in Nebraska right now, my rental has South Dakota plates and I guess I looked like suspicous driving back to my hotel and I was pulled over too! It was really hard for him to understand why I had a TX DL, SD plates and working in NE.

Justin TX, I am deliriously happy I didn't just buy a TX star hibiscus!!! Could've been on the news!I can just see myself explaining away..."I swear it's a hibiscus! Native to Texas!!!" And him telling me,"Sure lady tell it to the judge...."
Zitro,LOL!Guess the guy/girl that pulled you over had never been military. Did ya get a ticket or was he/she just checking ya out?
So, that's where you've been hiding lately! Nebraska! I don't think I've ever been to Nebraska for anything. I plan on changing my licence when it's expired. It's all run through the same computer system anyway now. I'll eventurally have a TX licence. Should I wear a coyboy hat for the occassion? LOL! PJ

I have to ask you PJ, why do you still have CA driver's licenses? Haven't ya'll been here for 2 or 3 years now?

Texas does require that you get a new license within a shorter period of time than 2 or 3 years, PJ. LOL.
You were very fortunate, because that would have been a BIG fine --- not just the speeding!!!!

But (whiny voice) whyyyyyyy????? The DMV (do they call it that here?) is a huge pain. It's an American ID for crying out loud! I got my CDL right before I moved! Sheesh. I hate the DMV. I have to whine some more about that. Y'all are right and I know it. I'll drag my sorry behind down wherever and get it done.PJ

Oh PJ, it's not that bad. Your picture does look worse each year though.

I think they need to get new cameras so the pictures would start looking better.

Man, PJ, you musta done *something* to get off so easy!!! ;) Just kidding. I usually consider 9 miles over the limit not speeding. But I usually go slower than anyone else around anyway.

Hey, go get than license so we can afford to put out more bluebonnet seed!!!

ROFL.......I thought this was a follow up to your marathon post....was gonna say no wonder your tired, hehe.
Sad to say, cute policeman are a thing of my past, the last one looked so young made me want to ask if his Mother knew he was out playing with guns.
Getting licensed here is nothing like new joisy. Didn't have to take a number, pack a lunch or tell family what to do if I wasn't back in 2days.
My picture does look more like a wanted poster than an i.d. though!

Ok, now you should do the right thing, and get your TX plates and license, before you get caught breaking the time limit for doing that.

Tsk, tsk, these Californians just have no sense of right and wrong.

Your insurance company might cancel you if you don't change the DL within 30 days. And yes, the law does require that you change your DL within 30 days. Your tags you can wait till they expire, and your inspection sticker. But your DL ya gotta change. Really surprised he let you go with a warning!

We have current plates and stickers. Just not DLs. Maybe he was relieved not to pull over another person without a licence, expired licence or suspended licence! I hear that's quite common. TorB you were reading my mind! Good God he was young! I did everything in my power to project that he was in good company and was in a position of authority tho!!! I was also glad he couldn't see my knife. It's legal and all... but I wanted him relaxed! PJ

PJ!!! What knife?!?!? Your plant cutting knife, I hope? (wondering now about PJ piercings and tatoos...)

I carry a 4" folding knife, pretty much always. It's got a 1/2 serrated edge for sawing(linked a pic of it but mine's more beat up!).I've used it around the garden a lot. Very handly if you're needing something sharp unexpectedly. According to the manufacturer it will go throught the hood of a car without giving. Haven't gotten that mad at a car so I don't know.
I only have pierced ears and a tiny tattoo on my shoulder. I look like a librarian. Carol and Jolana say I use it to take plant cuttings at random but they just like to stir up trouble y'know. LOL! PJ

Here is a link that might be useful: knife

Well, that still doesn't come out as handy as my Junior Woodchuck.

When you get your picture taken for that DL, be sure to lower your chin... that keeps you from facing the camera head on.
Your picture won't have that "mug shot" look to it.

Thanks Melvalena! I love looking like a serial killer(librarian?) in my ID pics!NOT!
I cannot find that tool or knife Rick! I got the swiss shope but managed to not be able to find that name! PJ

I look like a drunk farmer in my picture.

Hah hah. The "name" of the knife is from Donald Duck's 3 nephews, who are "Junior Woodchucks" (only people are cub scouts).

Guess that was a little too subtle, eh?

The real name is Swiss Army Knife......which is of course, a tool kit, in your pocket.

Also.....the human animal has a strong tendency to raise their chins, when being photographed.....a tendency I refer to as "stargazing". So.....yes, you should lean slightly forward from the waist (drops off the waistline and reduces poundage), and you should keep your chin down, to prevent distortion of the face, when being photographed. (Do not drop your chin to an abnormal level, though.)

The DPS folks have zero training in making anyone look good in a photo, so if you want a good license photo.....PREPARE for it! Do comb your hair, ladies- do use some make-up, and wear something presentable, preferably in med to dark colors, with no big prints. You are your own stylist.....for a driver's license photo, and you should prepare properly, if you don't want to have to hide your license for 8 yrs.

Um Rick, not to hurt your feelings but we didn't watch Donald Duck. We watched He-man and stuff. Mickey and Donald were um...past my era.
My DL's make me look like a yuppie!!! A fate worse than a drunken farmer! PJ

I did not get a ticket.

I have been stuck here for the last three 1/2 weeks, this is my last week.

I was stationed here before so I know enough people to keep me entertained.

I'm glad you didn't get a ticket either! You're military and I heard law enforcement tends to let military folks off easy when they can.(Speeding ticket or something simple not a DUI or something serious!)
You sound sad. I'll bet you miss the wife, your sweet baby girl and of course her darling baby little brother who ought to just now be hitting the "unbelievably cute" stage of babyhood...hint hint!!!PJ
