Having relatives in Alabama, we've seen it and I would worry about leaving my childen unattended around it, lol
We've seen someof the baskets made out of it and they are beautiful. I don't remember hearing you could eat it, that's a little helpful.
They all need to have a Regional *goat day* and everyone let a bunch munch for a few weeks, lol

I became very worried when I saw the title - you got me gooood...

I was in Georgia last summer and this stuff is taking over the state. Some cities bought goats to roam the area and eat the Kudzu since the chemicals would run $300,000+.

A few years back there was an article in one of the "homesteading mags that I get. It was about an old couple that grew it. It was amazing how many bales of hay, how many animals that could graze per acre of kudzu. The wife also made jellies, dishes of food and all out of the roots. I would be very tempted to try some if there were a way I could contain it so that it would not get out of the field I wanted to grow it in. Of course I would never plant it. Right now as I look out into our brown pastures and hay fields that can not grow because of the lack of rain it is even more tempting (just kidding).

Kudzu was a blessing in New Orleans, covering the abandoned houses, wrapping the light poles and providing a year-round garland on the high wires. A really bad day - having to search an abandoned house with Kudzu filling the rooms and coming out the windows. Anything could have been hiding in there!
