The citronella torches must have worked

I had a high school reunion this weekend. One of my classmates asked her parents if they would host it at their house. They have about 5 or so acres, a large pond and big backyard for the event. Anyway, they put out the citronella torches at intervals around the pond. The pond is equivalent to a good sized cattle pond, but has two fountains. Anyway, I didn't notice any problems with mosquitoes the whole evening - it was held in their backyard between the house and pond. My husband and I had to leave before midnight since he had to get up early to take my boys to scout camp the next day. Someone told me the next day (while I was helping clean up) that as soon as the torches were blown out the mosquitoes started biting. I thought that was very interesting and it is good to know that the citronella oil torches really do help repel mosquitoes. They're pretty at night too - especially around a body of water like that pond.
