One might post it on the Arizona board since they get early strong heat. Besides water at night, I don't know what to tell you. I can't grow blueberries because of alkalinity.

Beto, it depends on what are you willing to do for those plants. If you go to the "Gallery" section you will see a post that shows how Roselee, a fellow Texan gardener, is dealing with a similar challenge after loosing a big tree in her yard. I've seen people moving their plants to a location with more shade or using umbrellas, cardboard or other type of solar protection. When I lived in Utah I just gave up on growing certain plants that couldn't handle the intense sun in certain times of the year.
