Are paid memberships with reduced ads still available?

Hi Guys,

I'm back in the country, we have a house, the pool is finished, and I'm dying to get started designing beds and infrastructure, so I'll be coming around more often.

But, the Gardenweb page loading time is driving me insane! It's taking about 25 seconds for all the ads to load so that I can scroll down a page and read a post even! Are paid subscriptions still available? Do they eliminate a large portion of the ads?

I can't handle surfing Gardenweb when the dumb ads I don't pay attention to anyway take so long to load!

Anyone else having these problems?

It's awful, I know. I installed this thing called AdBlock, which is a downloadable program that blocks ads (just what it sounds like, huh?) And wah-lah, I can use GW again, sans ads! I highly recommend it.

Ohhhh Mommyfox! You've made my day! I've installed "SafariBlock" because I use the Safari browser on the Mac and I'm Gardenwebbin' again!

Thanks for the tip.

Also, because I've been battling the slow internet issues all day: don't forget to delete cookies AND clear cache to get a boost in speed!

I guess with cable modem, I don't have problems like that and don't worry too much about the ads. ;-) Glad you found a solution to your problem though. Welcome back from wherever you were living.

Yip, I'm back. I've got AT&T U-verse at the house, so technically it's supposed to be high-speed. But of course, they offer 3 speeds of internet and I decided to try the slowest just to see if I could notice a difference. It really isn't noticeable on things like iTunes and the such. But for some reason my machines had both slowed down horribly.

I knew to delete the cache, which didn't help, but I forgot to delete the cookies too. I'm cruising again! But I'm glad I downloaded the adblocker too. That's really speeding things along.

Now, if only I could locate my movers box with all my Texas gardening books in it....
