Best way to kill a cedar tree stump?

There is a cedar tree (aka ashe juniper) right smack in the middle of where I'm planning to build some raised beds. The trunk was severely injured while our house was being built and I think it will die eventually anyway...

So, once I cut the tree down to the ground, will it sprout back up? If the stump is covered with two feet of dirt will that prevent this from happening?

Who all has experience using a stump grinder? I'm a little afraid of doing that.

Dy-no-mite.

Actually, I just hire a tree service, and pay the fee to have the stump ground down, then make darn sure I overfill, and prevent any new sprouts.

Drill one or two holes a couple of inches deep and fill with salt.

I kill cedar (mountain ashe Juniper) ALL the time. IT will die if you cut below the lowest growing branch if it is Mountain Ashe Juniper or eastern Red Cedar. If it is Red Berry juniper, you need poison. It sprouts from the base and is more difficult.
