I've been sending one or two daily for sometime now - I really hope they know how much we appreciate them. Thanks for posting it for others -----.

How cool is this? I'm glad they have a way to reach these kids and let them know we care. There was an article in our very local "what's happening here" paper about a young man whose jeep was hit by a rocket launcher(the had an inital for it but I forgot what it was) His jeep was flipped and he took some serious shrapnel(he's gonna need skin grafts). He was so young! It just made me want to cry.PJ

    Hello All!

Thank you Janet and everyone else so much for the support for our military. I know that it's not just driving spouses crazy, but many mothers, like me, and other family members crazy. Tommy is my only son, and he has a 6 1/2 old, well almost 7 year old daughter that is living in Alaska with her mother right now.

And I just received an email from Tommy the first that I've heard from him in over 10 days. They are patrolling the streets of Baghdad in some of the most dangerous areas of Baghdad. And today he informed me that they are going back out onto the streets of Baghdad again tonight. It is just terrible. I can't believe what is going on. He said the heat is just about ready to kill them and they lived all last week inside an abandoned house with no power and always being on the defensive. Sometimes I think that I'm going crazy.

My husband and I are members of First United Methodist Church of Rockport, and they have been very supportive of us too. And Terry, my DH, ran into Monsignor from Sacred Heart and asked that Tommy be put on their prayer list too. In fact, all of the churches here in Rockport have been very supportive of our military men and women.

When Tommy was first deployed in August 2005 his unit was in Rawah near the Syrian border. Lots of fighting all the time. Then along about October he got his own platoon and was stationed just north of Mosul on top of a mountain where they were relatively safe. He is a Sergeant First Class with his MOA being a chemical specialist. He is with the 172nd Stryker Brigade; website Strykers. He was to be back at Fort Wainwright, Fairbanks, Alaska on August 8. Instead he was heading down to Baghdad.

Also my only other child, my daughter Stacy, and her husband and daughter, 18 months, are living in Hawaii. Shawn is also a SFC and is stationed at Schofield Barracks. They don't tell me much, but I'm getting the idea that he will be deployed sometime after the first of the year. They don't want to worry me, but I'll worry regardless.

Right now we are hoping and praying that Tommy and his unit will be back in Fairbanks by mid-December. Please keep not only my son in your prayers but all of our military men and women.

Linda, I can imagine what you're going through. Our SIL has been over there leading troops in buildings not knowing what he'll find inside. He can tell lots of sad stories about our young soldiers but he keeps a lot of it to himself. You never hear what our troops go through over there on the news.

Those people are crazy over there.

Some of the soldiers gave the kids toys because they felt sorry for them and the next day they saw one 12 year old boys mother and ask how the boy liked the soccor ball. She rushed by and said she couldn't talk but that some of Iraqi soldiers found out he was given a toy from US soldiers and they killed him.

These people train their children to kill as soon as they can walk. They're mean and full of hate.
Now he worries about the rest of the children they gave toys to.

    Carol Ann,

What you say is so true. The news only tells one side of what is going on over there. It is pure hell. And you are right about the culture. It is not one that we can understand, never well and furthermore why are we trying to change them. They have been doing it that way for thousands of years, and we certainly aren't going in there and change them.

I received this email today from a friend about her son who is a helicopter pilot in Iraq:

I don't think the public knows Med-Evac can't turn any one down. In fact it reminds me of my son's very first mission in Iraq - sent to pick up a terrorist with gunshot wounds to the head suffered after the guy killed 3 of our soldiers. You won't hear this on the nightly news, but while the bodies of his fellow soldiers were being bagged, the unit's medic treated the wounds inflected on the sniper & then called in Med-Evac for him - in accordance with Army regulations.

I don't think they should help the people trying to kill them myself. I think that's a dumb regulation. I feel so sad for anyone who has family over there. You are all in my prayers.PJ

My granddaughter is over there. She is in a supposedly "safe" place because she is a caplin's assistant and body guard. Chaplins do not carry arms.

I am so thankful that my son retired last year.

Linda, I can't imagine what you are going through. Blessing to you and yor family.

Another thing that scares me is the fact that we're training these robot idiots to take over when our troops are gone but the news hasn't reported that some of the men they have trained have turned on the troops that have trained them and shot some of our soldiers.

You can't trust anyone who's dumb enough to believe that if they blow themselves up they will go to heaven and get 4000 virgins.
...at least I think it was 4000 virgins.
