Nope. However, the re-enactment was of the liberation of Nancy, France (in the NE part of the country, following D-day, it would seem.)

All part of Veteran's Day event celebrations.

The liberation of Nancy from the Germans, was a joint effort of various branches of the militaries, and the French resistance also played a key role.

Nancy is most famous for the arts, specifically Art Nouveau period, where Galle (famous glass maker known for outstanding cameo glass), formed an artist's enclave.

Nancy is located in the Lorraine, between Strasbourg and Paris, and is situated between the region of Champagne and Alsace, in the wine regions of France.

Nancy has a metro population today of close to a half-million people, but the city proper is only about 110,000.

I was stationed about 2 hours from there, just inside Germany, about 15 kilometers from the French border.

I hope they do it again next year. I heard a snippet about it on the radio while I was getting ready for the other function. Then we raced into Waxahachie and started downtown. There weren't any signs or directions about it, and I was beginning to think I'd been imagining things. Til I saw two german officers in those jodhpur type pants walking along talking.

I saw one "like new" motorcycle with the whistle still attached, and a rifle pocket on the windshield. It sat very low to the ground. Maybe next year.

In this very busy world today, such an event is hardly noticed, as it is about something "long ago".

Even the publicity for it was poor, with only one source actually providing any in depth information about it.

Many Veteran's Day events get only a modest amount of attention.
