| Is there a website or anything? I grow several varieties of crape myrtle trees in 1 gallon pots. I would love to trade for other plants and see what others are growing. |
Here is a link that might be useful: Crape Myrtle Guy
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here

| We should begin posting our plants available for trade on this thread soon. Most of us are waiting to see what is growing before compiling our lists. Crape Myrtle Guy-Are you planning to attend the swap? This thread is for those attending the swap in San Antonio. If not, you will need to start your own thread. |

| My Aromatic Aster (Aster oblongifolius, I think) has spread out too much, so if anyone would like one from the divisions I'm doing, let me know. Will think about what else I can bring. Shirley, could I please try a Gomphrena? |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Linda, got you down for a gomphrena. Would love an aster. I also have Ruby Crystals grass, small seedlings. |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Not bringing any plants just in case they might be harboring chilli thrips and getting them started in your yard, but bringing a bunch of interesting seeds, at least I think they are interesting :-) Will list them when I get them sorted. Looking forward to seeing everybody again. I thought about having an open house again since it was so much fun last time, but it will probably be better to do it in the fall when things fill in a bit after the removal of the roses. . |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| An open house to see your garden progress will give us something nice to look forward to in the fall Ragna! Seeds are always welcome! |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| I am still debating weather I can come. My life has been out of control with doing my work and my husbands work ( he fell off a ladder and broke arm), wildlife exemption work and their is very little gardening happening. Other than repotting what I have. I am in KIlling plant mode, to tell the truth. I also feel a BAD summer coming on which means I will not have a bunch of water, Reading your offerings is already tempting me. -Mara |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Mara, we'll miss you! I'll email you in case you want one of my plants, I can get it to you some other way. Shirley |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Ragna, I planted the pentapete seeds you gave me last fall today, in a pot. I can't wait to see how they do. Shirley, don't know if I'll have enough to trade if I do frog lady trade and yours. I've planted so many seeds (Mexican buckeye, senna, etc) but very few have come up. |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Lorelei, don't be concerned if the pentapete seeds don't sprout right away. After observing when they volunteer for me it seems they like the weather to be pretty hot before they germinate. So no worries -- they will come up. Hope you can come. It was great meeting you at the last swap. |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Lorelei, we'll enjoy visiting with you and several of our regulars don't bring plants anymore. |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Mara, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's accident...hope everything turns out okay eventually. I've been through things like that, so I know how it can be. Hope you can make it, if not try for next fall. And I did hear that the drought is expected to persist or get worse, according to forecasters. Getting tired of that! Shirley, got you down for that Aromatic Aster. I'll be bringing some seeds also...I've got way too many of certain kinds of seeds and would like to share them! |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| it will be a hot dry summer, I fear. I hope to god I am wrong, but I am planning my actions as if. It also helps with me having to focus on work and building. I need to plant the seeds you gave me still, linda. I am still getting the plants from the fall swap established. My record on keeping things alive has not been too good. |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Hello all, I think I will be able to make it and am looking forward to it! I haven' t really done an inventory yet, but I do know I have silver artemesia to offer. Will get a more extensive list up soon. Mara, I am sorry to hear about your hubby's accident, too. I hope things smooth out for you very soon. |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Hi Tonya, so glad to hear you can make it. Anyone else out there? We'd love to see you at the swap so let us know even if your list isn't ready yet. |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| I will be there! Bringing some cactus soil and a couple of 4 inch plants. Just potted them up so in a week ill know what is gonna be ready. Also I had a echinocereus that someone wanted at the last swap but can't remember who it was. I also have some bearded iris and crinums. |

| Shirley wrote: "An open house to see your garden progress will give us something nice to look forward to in the fall Ragna!" Well maybe, Bob has finished taking out the grass and laying paving stones in front the the cedar swing so it may be presentable even though the newly planted items will not have had time to grow in so we'll see -- that is if anyone wants to come. Let me know if you do. |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here

| Does anyone have any coral vine, antigonon leptopus, they are wanting to thin out? They may not even be coming back out yet, but if you do have some, I would love as much as you want to get rid of. Hoping to eventually cover part of some terraced landscape with it. Tonya |
Here is a link that might be useful: Antigonon leptopus
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Tonya, I found one that I can dig, cut back the foliage in case any chilli thrips are hiding there (although I didn't see them in this part of the yard) and keep dormant in the fridge until swap time. I know you wanted several. Hope somebody else has some for you. This one is growing near the red variety, which is really a very dark pink, so maybe it will be a dark pink one too. |

I have tons of it, it never died back this year. I was just looking at it sprouting up everywhere and all the seeds still on the vine thinking I need to dig up that coral vine. I`ll put a bunch in a pot for you. Anyone else want coral vine? Tally Ho! |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here

RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Tally, I'd love one too! Do you have any of that columnar cactus you brought last time? |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| By the way Shirley this is what the claret flowers look like. This one is at work. |

RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here

RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here

RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
Roselee - Done! Any particular region you like? |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Its in the older cactus area near the lake. Its a cold hardy cacti so I'm sure it'll love coming out of its pot and into the ground. |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| That's great, a cactus in the ground is easy around here. |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| I'm not really a plant person - more a wannabe - because I don't have a green thumb. I'm hoping to be at the swap and since I only have a few (living) plants in the yard, can I bring cookies to swap? Or banana muffins? I have great recipes for both. :) My backyard has the potential to be beautiful and I decided this year is the year it will be. I stopped by Home Depot and Shades of Green this afternoon to look at what's available. I want some flowers in containers for the patio, mostly full sun. I also want some greenery around the fence/pool and some flowers and it's partial sun. And the pencil cactus I saw on another thread? I think that's the same plant I saw in Ethiopia and would love to have some of that! I'm happy I found this thread and hope I can meet y'all at the swap. |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Sundownr- Baked goods are always welcome :-) That's what I brought last year. Everyone was super nice. Please come if you can. Lisa |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Sundownr, we're looking forward to meeting you (and your muffins :-). I'll have some seeds of various plants that might work for you in pots. See you there. Zitro Joe, I'm not familiar with reginal coffees. I've only had blended coffee off HEB shelves and the like and would just like to see what a pure region is like. Just a small amount will do. Thank you! Joey, in the next year or two when you have more claret cactus keep me in mind. I was thinking claret might be that beautiful hardy cactus you gave me years ago with the large fuschia flowers. It has done so well. |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Well I have some pups that are starting to root. So as long as you keep it potted for a few months before planting outside, ill bring you one. |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Hi sundownr, I look forward to meeting you at the swap too. I have a pencil cactus and will try to make some cuttings for you and check for any flowering plants that might work. |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| I have a couple of chunks of that cactus. I`ll bring them with me. And extra coral vine. I LOVE cookies! I`ll bring you a box of plants Sundownr. I have a huge pencil tree I want to trim back so will bring you that, you can never have too much pencil cactus lol. Tally Ho! |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Joey, a little pup will be fine. Thank you! Tally, since pencil cactus is a euphorbia how do you recommend handling it? |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Chilly week compared to last week. I am bringing some stuff inside just in case. |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here

| Donna, I'm so glad to hear you're coming. Thanks for remembering the 'water gardens'. I'm interested in the Lespedeza. Could I interest you in some baby agave bracteosa 'Calamar' and/or A. green goblet? Will also have some several kinds of seeds, (which I must get around to listing). |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Ragna, I would love to trade for both the agave bracteosa 'Calamar' and A. green goblet. I was so looking forward to spending time in your garden again. =( But I do have another 'medieval' event that day (this time in San Antonio) that I need attend, so I will placate myself with that. |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Okay Donna :-) Even though I don't think there is any danger from chilli thrips on these plants I'll be drenching the agaves and soil of everything I bring with a systemic insecticide. |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Donna - I have you down for those, the dicliptera is proving a bit tricky as usual so can't guarantee. |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Dstartz (Donna)- I have you down for the Mexican feather grass. Can I have a Lespedeza please? I look forward to meeting you at the swap. Tally- you can go to Donna's for the rocks and to my place for the mesquite. Practically one stop shopping :-) Lisa |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here

RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Hi y'all! I plan to come this spring, though as usual I don't have much to offer. Here's what I do have: - lots of self-rooted pink fall-blooming trumpet vine (smells great, not as aggressive as regular trumpet vine) - reve d'or rose from Roselee which I still haven't found a spot for; if someone has a great spot for it, I'd be willing to part with it - lots of plastic nursery pots of all sizes, 4", quart, gallon, 5-gallon - I'm a much better cook than I am a gardener, so I'd be happy to trade food! Muffins, cupcakes, cookies, lunch - tell me what you like and I'll make it. I'm interested in the following, if you can find anything worthy of a trade: - rock_oak_deer (shirley): artemesia, ruby crystals grass - phoenix (joey): agastache - southofsa: society garlic, sage, feather grass - nbtonya: artemesia, rock rose I'm always interested in any salvias, frost-hardy succulents, turk's cap (especially pink) and cast iron plant you want to get rid of. See y'all soon! - m |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here

| Hi Meredith, have you down for the artemesia and ruby grass. I'd like the rose, already have one and wished I had another to go with it. |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here

| I am going to be able to go to the swap. Gardenlover I will bring you a meyers lemon tree, it is blooming, you will love the smell. I really do not need any plants, and Tonya I will bring you a plumeria cutting. Tally I am bringing you a Xena rooted brugmansia plant, its is a dark dark pink, you will love it. I sent you an email with Marks information on what brugs he has for sale. Kathy, are you coming? If you are, I will bring you a cutting from New Orleans Lady.. Barbra |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| That's good to hear you can make it to the swap Barbra. Kathy is not going to be there and Patty can't make it either. |
RE: HAVE: San Antonio Spring Swap 2013-Plan your trades here
| | |
| Tomorrow my husband and I will be taking a tour of the Texas Olive Ranch in Asherton and buying some rooted olive tree cuttings for around $5 apiece. Anyone else interested in some rooted cuttings I'd be happy to pick them for you and I can either meet you at the medical center in SA Monday or I can bring them to you at the swap on the 6th. It seems to me that the person I spoke with said they had 3 varieties for sale, but all I can remember for sure is the Arbequina. If the variety matters to you, let me know what you' like ~in the order that you would like them~ and I will use that list tomorrow. (see this page for the varieties of large trees they have listed) |
