HAVE: Ovilla Swap April 19!

sylviatexas1

Thanks to the interest of some of our southwest Dallas County & Ellis County gardeners...

A brand-new swap has just been "born"!

& we have the gazebo at the Ovilla City Park on Saturday April 19!

It's easy to find:

From I-20 in the Duncanville area, go south on Cockrell Hill Road.

You'll pass Beltline & Bear Creek, & then you'll get into the City of Ovilla, where the road becomes Main Street & starts to wiggle.

Go past City Hall & look to your right.

The park is on the right just before the traffic light (the only traffic light in town).

too cool, I'm excited!

This is too close it pass up! I live off Shiloh Rd, so, I will be there. This is my first year in my house but I belonged to a garden club in Kingwood that was heavy on the plant exchange and I loved it! I always have a little something growing. I can bring my favorite rose cuttings Zepherine Drouhin, and some yellow cosmos seeds. Hmm, I will have to take a further look around tomorrow.

Isn't there a good BBQ place downtown Ovilla? Seems like you mentioned it after your garden tour last summer.

Debbie, I've never tried propagating clematis either, and don't know if this will work either. I accidently broke a couple of pieces of & thought I might as well try.

I'll definitely have the Spanish lavender for you and a confetti lantana though.

I'd like to trade for Stella D'Orro daylillies and Grandpa Ott MG.

If anyone has bluebonnets, I'd like to trade for some. I'm probably the only person in Texas who can't get bluebonnets to come back the next year.

  • TxMarti

debbie, bad news on the clematis. My dog jumped on the chair & knocked it off one evening and I didn't find it until the next morning.

I can either get a cutting Saturday morning, or see if I have a different clematis coming up somewhere (I think there may be a sweet autumn).

I hope this wind lets up. My allergies are killing me today & I still have a few things to get ready.

  • debbiedo7

Marti that's OK. If you can find one that's cool.
    Debbie

Did you want a name tag?

  • TxMarti

Sure, why not. How many are going to be there?

  • debbiedo7

    Marti,

???? how many are going to be there????? What did ya mean
If you have any of the floating water lilies I'd love to get a start from them.

Knowing that this is a new swap, I walked around & gathered up some left over plants from all the Great Gardeners at the Fort Worth plant swap. I don't know how many people will be at this swap but we will be prepared to have something for any newbies.

I know Sylvia is bringing extra stuff too. I'm her shadow this year - haha - well at least to the 3 swap meets in our area.

    Sylvia is the Greatest!!!

I mean how many folks are going to come to this swap?

I was going to bring a neighbor but I think she has changed her mind. I'll ask her again. She has a lot of blue mist I thought she would bring.

  • TxMarti

Oh & YES, I will bring you a water lily. Do you want a particular color? I have pink, white, yellow if I still have markers in the pots so I can tell which is which.

  • TxMarti

    Ladies,
Thank you all for the great swaps! I am excited to get them in the ground. Everyone was so generous and nice. We went to the Dallas Arboretum after and had a blast---I had no idea you could grow peonies here.

Thanks for the info Lisa. I enjoyed meeting you and your girls. Let me know when you want to come get some lilies.

I really enjoyed this swap even though it was small. I think that may be what made it really nice for me, I actually got to know you all better. But Donna laughed at me :( cuz I'm old and stiff. lol

I waited at the park until about 1:40 and that lady never came back. But another car came by with two ladies in it and they asked about the swap. I don't know who they were or how they knew, but I told them you all had gone on to Getzendaner and they said they would go there. If the other lady came back, she must have come while we were eating.

    What was Getzendaner like?

    It was lovely;
we got there just as they were closing up shop, so we hurriedly unpacked our stuff & encouraged people to browse & pick out things, & they were generous with trades, too!

    Thanks to all!
