I just stumbled in here and would love to come but I don't have anything but house plants I have propagated.
My plan is to get more gardening done starting with the seeds that I am germinating friends have given me.
Is is alright if I just come a drool and pick your brains?

We would love for you to join us!

Newbies usually don't have exchanges or swaps.
Come any way, we are always happy to share.

We have to pay rental for the pavilion. So you can donate a few $s towards that if you so desire.

Anything that concerns gardening. Pots, garden magazines, books, fencing etc. We even had several bring chicken or horse manure.

This is a sack lunch, if you plan on staying that long.

    Texasfern,

Welcome, I'll bring an angel wing begonia for you. Look forward to seeing you there.

Hi Kathy, I'm not sure if I'll be coming, but can you save me some seed for snail vine and the orchid vine ? I'd appreciate it ! I still have your thryalis. Are you looking for anything else this year ?

Not coming, what!? Ummm, I think the bylaws say you have to be there. hahaha.
The snail vine is a plant.
Yes, I will save you seeds from the orchid vine.

Feel free to come by the house and get them and also your columbine.

Patty, I agree with the plantmaven. The only way you can get out of attending is with a note from a doctor! And it has to be hand delivered personally on the morning of the 10th of Oct. 2009.

    Kathy,
I responded to your other post saying that I sent you a private email, but I see that it was here where I answered you and not a regular email.

would still love a snail vine if you have an extra for me. I may try to get by the house soon if I can. Will call ya.

I will be cutting a branch off my yellow brugmansia, aka angel's trumpet. If anyone wants cuttings, post here. They root very easily, you just stick them in a container of water.

    {{gwi:489156}}

Also will be pruning my sweet almond bush (Aloysia virgata), if any one wants to try rooting some of that.

Here is a link that might be useful: sweet almond bush

    Kathy,
Looks like I may be able to make it to the swap. So, here's my list. I would very much like to put together pre-arranged trades so I know what to bring. Those who know me, know that I usually bring too much, and I'm trying not to do that. So, please help me out and if I have something you're interested in, let me know.

Email me directly please through My Page since I check email much more than I come to GardenWeb. If you list here, I might not get it in a timely manner.

I have a plant sale for a church bazaar the week before the swap, and I am taking the following plants. I am listing them here because I will bring home whatever is left over. If you're interested in something let me know. If I have enough, and if you offer something wonderful, I'll yank it from the plant sale.

    aloe vera (of course)
    night-blooming cereus
    artillery fern
    dwarf artillery fern
    donkey ears
callisia fragrans / Old Man's Pipe
    large elephant ears
    spider plants
    jewels of Opar
    Jingle Bells Kalanchoe
    purple fountain grass
    copper canyon daisy
    coral bean
    bulbine
    ruellia squarrosa
    asparagus fern
    chocolate plant
    ruby grass
    ****************************************
Below are other plants that I have in pots right now, but I am not limited to these. If you are looking for something in particular, let me know -- I may have it, but have not listed it here.

    Cannas
    sanseveria - Mother-in-law's tongue
    Jade
    pointsettia
    cissus quadrangularis / Veldt grape
    crassula
    salvia coccinea
    pipevine
    clitoria vine
    dames rocket
    bilbergia
    red firecracker plant
air potato vine / dioscorea bulbifera
    grass lily
    white rain lily
    large pink rain lily
    crinum bulbispermum
    salvia nermosa
    Pride of Barbados / orange
    pigeonberry
    bryophyllum crenatodaigremontianum (kalanchoe family)
    caesalpinia gilliesii

I also have a great pair of green rubber garden boots. Like new ! My feet are too wide and they hurt after wearing them awhile. About size 7-1/2.

Don't really know what I'm looking for. Always looking for something I don't have. Favorites are daylilies and irises. Also salvias. Let me know what you have. Remember to email me directly for the best results.

    Thank you !!

Ahh! Found the lists! Kathy, you can disregard my question in the other post.

I will get a list on here within the next day or so, but thought I'd go ahead and ask for a couple of things...

Roselee, I would love some chocolate plant!

Rock Oak Deer, do you have any plectranthus, Mona Lavender left?

Patty, will send you an e-mail shortly, glad you'll be able to make it!

    Tonya,

Thanks, I would like some yellow irs.

The Mona Lavender is not looking good right now (too wet, dry,or hot?) I'm working on some new starts and if they take, I'll definitely bring some for you.

Slow getting in here but glad I did!
I thought the date was the 19Th!
Shirley, thanks for the saving the begonia!
I was looking thru your list and saw that and jumped in my chair, then saw your offer!
    Great!
Here's a couple of pictures of the kind of thing I will be bringing.
Now I am hoping to have these "flower Plates" mounted on pvc and ready to put in the ground.

    {{gwi:188913}}

    {{gwi:188915}}
    {{gwi:188917}}

    {{gwi:188919}}

I will also have some totems in different sizes. They are so pretty in the garden when the sun hits.
They can be used to hold plants, feed butterflies or birdbaths. I have one lady that uses them for buffet servers and candle holders.

OK, here's my list so far. Please e-mail me at tonyarose3@hotmail.com to let me know if you want me to set something aside for you. I am more likely to see it on that. Thanks!

Tonya, just bring some of the Datura seeds for me if you have any. I'll trade the chocolate plants for them.

Texasfern, your flower plates are beautiful! They'll make great butterfly feeders, as well as small bird baths.

Anybody else see something you want on my little list near the top of the thread? I'll bring them all of course and there will be plenty of opportunity to swap when we get there.

  • nbtonya

Hi Ragna. I'll be glad to bring the seeds. The plants are small enough to bring inside for the winter and have a good start on spring if you change your mind on that. I did that with one last winter and it has grown huge. Actually the seeds I have are of a double purple, but I am not sure it is black currant swirl. I'll bring them.

  • dstartz

Dang, I only found out about this swap today. Had I known a month or so ago I would have a bunch more to swap!

I'll be driving up from Alice, so instead of schlepping plants that no one wants I'm going to post my list and see if there's any interest.

    Society Garlic (Tulbaghia violacea)
    Stalked Bulbine (Bulbine frutescens)
    Bromeliad
    Butterfly Plant (Clerdendron ugandense)
Sky Flower, Golden Dew Drop (Duranta repens)
Sky Flower 'Sapphire Showers' (Duranta erecta 'Sapphire Showers')
Sky Flower 'Alba' (Duranta erecta 'Sapphire Showers')
    Firespike (Odontonema strictum)
    Firecracker Plant (Russelia equisetiformis)
    Unnamed Pink Brugmansia shoots
Butterfly Weed 'Silky Gold' (Asclepias curassavica 'Silky Gold')

  • dstartz

I can also bring cuttings of:

    Hibiscus 'Snow Queen' (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis)
    Japanese Lanterns (Hibiscus schizopetalus)
    Mexican Firebush (Hamelia patens)
    Cigar Plant (Cuphea ignea)

  • roselee z8b S.W. Texas

Dstar, I'm interested in the Butterfly Plant (Clerdendron ugandense). What would you like to have in trade?

Tonya, okay, you talked me into it, not that it took much :-) I will take the black currant swirl datura plant. Thank you!

  • nbtonya

Hi dstartz, glad you saw this and glad you are coming. You may have noticed in an earlier post that we will be at a pavilion toward the back of the park. You will probably see a plant swap as soon as you drive in, but that's another group, so even if you stop to look, come on around back to us, too! ....I am interested in cuttings from your hibiscus'snow queen" and japanese lanterns if you can give me guidance on the best way to get them to root. Please look at my list above and see what I can set aside for you. Also, it doesn't have to be even-steven with me. If you want more than two things, let me know!

=) Ragna does your arm hurt from me twisting it? Gotcha down for the plant and will bring seeds, too in case you want to try those as well.

I couldn't be happier that I'm going to get to swap some plants!

    roselee
Butterfly Plant (Clerdendron ugandense) => Chocolate Plant

    nbtonya
Hibiscus 'Snow Queen' => Old fashioned pale yellow Bearded Irises

***** That is my only Sky Flower 'Alba' plant. I'll be taking more cuttings and putting them in water, in case anybody would be interested in them. *****

The moon will be semi-decent for propagation Tuesday (I'll be gone Thursday or I'd do it then); I'll take cuttings from the Hibiscus (& Duranta 'Alba') and get them started rooting in water. By the 10th they should at least have nubs.

OOPS! First we think Donna has the datura then we think she wants the datura. Sorry! I see that it is Shirley that wants a datura plant. Shirley, do you want me to put you down for a 'black currant swirl'?

Ragna, haven't heard back from you on the chocolate plant. Can I look forward to that, or are you "plumb out"?

    Tonya

  • rock_oak_deer

Yes, Tonya the datura "black currant swirl" was what I saw earlier and was trying to request.

And, YES, Kathy, I would love a triple yellow datura.

    Thank you!

  • roselee z8b S.W. Texas

Tonya, I put Chocolate plant next to your name as soon as I read your first request. I've got lots of them, they reseed easily and are growing in several places around the yard, however I wouldn't call them invasive -- they sort of politely reseed just where they look the best, LOL, so if anybody else wants one just let me know so I can dig some up.

See my list above for anything else anybody wants.

  • nbtonya

Thanks Ragna, in reading back through the posts, I see that you did tell me that already. Sorry! I'm excited about the chocolate plant. I am always looking for differently colored foliage plants since I have so much green!

    Tonya

  • roselee z8b S.W. Texas

Tonya, as you probably know the chocolate plant has rich purple flowers held up on tall spikes. It's low growing habit makes it look nice draping over in a pot with other plants. Likes shade.

Also I have two Canary Island rose bushes. It's a once bloomer with lavender very fragrant flowers in spring. Nice shrub all summer with totally healthy foliage. I still have one.

  • rock_oak_deer

Roselee, you sold me on the chocolate plant and I would like one if you have more. I think Patty has it on her list, too.

    Thanks - Shirley

  • roselee z8b S.W. Texas

They are one of those perfect pass-along-plants.
