I actually live in Cedar Creek, but that's out your way. I do lots of gardening on my 2 acres. I don't have pine trees. I have mostly post oak and eastern red cedar. My soils are mostly sandy and well-drained. I seem to be able to grow a wide variety of texas natives and tropicals. Sometimes it's difficult to get the well-drained soils to hold moistures, but I've been adding mulch and compost for years, which seems to be helping. Let me know if you want to talk some more.
