Everything is just GORGEOUS! Love that EE ... wow. Is it one that survived the freeze?

BTW, I noticed that the pink glory bower clerodendrum vine at the Spanish Governor's Palace in downtown San Antonio had died back. It looks like they have planted more, but it may have come back from the roots. Hard to tell. Mine didn't come back.

Everything is sure looking good at your place!

Thanks, Roselee. The E.E. is new. It is called Colocasia 'Mojito'. My Bleeding Heart vines, both White and Pink, died, I thought. I've replaced them both, but planted beside the old ones instead of pulling them up, and just noticed today that the pink one is now sprouting from the roots.

Looks great Jim! Your Pinkie still looks fabulous!! How do you do that? Mine is now a mass of spent blooms....kinda raggedy looking. Do you feed or deadhead yours?

Goodness, it is almost like you didn't even have a winter.
So beautiful

Great stuff Jim!

Between late snows and 60MPH winds, my stuff is having a hard go of it.

My poor pinkie is hanging in there, but its far from a banner year for her.

RE: A Few Recent Pictures

Oh my!

My bleeding heart from you made it. But that is because I brought it inside. Same with the blue sky vine. After I took them out the blue vine bloomed.

Are the yellow flowers shell cosmos? I had some pink ones one year, but forgot to buy seeds this season

Wow, Jim. This is "GardenDesign" and "Gardening" magazine quality! All that hard work has resulted in a super fine garden. Sun hats off to you! Men are such dedicated and smart gardeners! It is beautiful. Open garden, sometime?

 o
RE: A Few Recent Pictures red rose

Please tell us about that fabulous red rose (last picture).

RE: A Few Recent Pictures

Thanks to you all!

Kristi--I'm afraid I stretched the heading 'Recent Pictures' a little with the picture of Pinkie. It was taken on April 30th. Today, it looks exactly as you describe yours.

Jolana--- We had WINTER! I'm just not showing the ugly stuff. Ha!Ha!

Kathy--- The yellow flowers are coreopsis 'Jethro Hull'. Each petal is a little tube. The Blue-eyed grass it's with is 'Suwannee River'.

Red Geranium---The rose is 'Opening Night', a Father's Day gift from my daughter, a couple of years ago. Oh, and my garden gate is always open. Come anytime.

When Climbing Pinkie and other roses go through that phase you just take a child size rake and give them a little shake ... :-)

As you know it won't be long until new growth pops out and covers what's left.

PS for the ladies: I do love my child size shovel, hoe, and rake; and they are only four dollars each at Lowes.

Jim, one of these days I am driving down that way just to take a stroll through your beautiful garden. It lifts the spirit just to view the pics, but think what it would do in person? Thanks, always, for sharing.

Jim, your garden is just beautiful. Love seeing the photos as always.

Beautiful .. What are the big orange and lemon yellow lily's called? I have a different shade of the same that I want to upload.
How do we upload pictures here ?

 o
RE: A Few Recent Pictures

Thank you Carrie, and you too Shirley. Thanks for looking Ibheri, the lilies are LA lily hybrids, which are a genetic cross between Asiatic and Longiflorum (Easter)lilies.

Jim
It's gratifying to stand and enjoy something you've put together like that, isn't it Jim?!?! You've done good, ole bud!

Oh Jim that is breath taking, so pretty.

I'm very sad though, we have to remove our pool due to age, it would take $$$$ to get it back in shape. Had the contractor out today and was told I'd have to remove two beds. They are both my favorite beds of course.

Boohoo

 o
RE: A Few Recent Pictures

Thanks J.D. and Barbara. Sorry about your pool Barb, but maybe once it's gone, you can build the beds back bigger and better than ever. My grand daughter told me that if I didn't have so many flowers, I'd have room for a pool! Ha!Ha!

RE: A Few Recent Pictures

Shucks, Barb, think I would just fill it in and make a rose garden out of it..............

 o
RE: A Few Recent Pictures

Great idea Carrie. There would aleady be a border and a walk around it. There may be good reasons why not to do that, but seems like it would be cheaper than removing the whole stucture. But why not just crack it good for drainage and fill it in. It would take several loads of dirt I guess and trucks coming in would mess up the existing beds.

RE: A Few Recent Pictures

For me, there are ALWAYS downsides to anything that requires change...........I so like to change only that which disturbs nothing else.

RE: A Few Recent Pictures

Jim, your garden looks beautiful--not only the plants, but the layout is wonderful. Is your whole garden area paved? It looks like a courtyard garden, rather than flower beds in the middle of the yard.
Molly

 o
RE: A Few Recent Pictures

Thanks, Molly. Yes, the back garden is now either flower beds or pavers. I still have some grass in the front.

Jim, the Coreposis is "Jethro Tull" -- named in honor of the flute-player from that 1960's group. And yours are absolutely goregous!

 o
RE: A Few Recent Pictures

Thanks, Carla, and of course you are right. I typed the name wrong.

Jim, your garden is just beautiful, most of my plants are just now coming back from their roots. Barbra

 o
RE: A Few Recent Pictures

Thanks, Barbara. I have a lot of plants just coming back too, and some that probably won't.
Jim

RE: A Few Recent Pictures

I'm remembering pictures of your garden after Ike came through and you have certainly brought everything back beautifully. You really should submit photos and a story about your gardening experiences to Birds 'n Blooms. You'll have the whole country drooling over your garden if they print it!

RE: A Few Recent Pictures

Thank you, Denise. You are too kind.
