I always thought if nothing else, gardening teaches patience :-) very cool flower. So if I'm reading the posts right, clematis is part sun here? Or am I confused.

It is growing next to a rose bush, as I heard they look pretty and the bush makes a nice a natural trellis.
Well that did not happen. Once it started it very fast up a vinyl trellis and grew over to the right and is all intertwined in an angel's trumpet. All the bloomers are in shade or semi-shade.

I've told this before but when I was about five years old I saw one growing in an unkept yard near my grandmother's house. I was enchanted and laid down in the dirt beside it thinking; "Here is this beautiful plant growing and nobody even cares or is excited about it except me."

It wasn't until I got into gardening that I discovered what it was and years after that before I got one.

That clematis grows native in my part of east Texas. Where I've seen it is on barbed wire fences where it gets morning sun and some protection in the afternoon. It seems to grow really well where there's fresh cow manure applied directly from the source.

Anybody have any luck growing it from seed? I know they can take a long time to germinate...
