The blizzard set Pinkie back

The Climbing Pinkie roses are about 3 weeks late this year. But, considering how much dead wood I had to cut out after the storm, I'm surprised she put on a show at all.

Just lovely as ever. Your yard is what mine will never be - civilized, LOL. I love how neat and tidy it is with the exuberant blooms.

Could you tell me what the flower in the back ground to the right of pinkie is? Also, what kind of grass do you have again? It makes me want to take off my shoes and run.

Oh my goodness, would someone please come and put some order in my beds, LOL
RC, I can't believe you even had a freeze, everything looks beautiful and the Pinkie is outdoing everything

I can never get enough of your 'Pinkie' on that arbor, and the rest of the beds look fantastic too.

The Pinkie rose on the arch over the bench, the arrangement of the flowers in the beds, the foliage, the fence, the rock edging, that lovely thick grass -- everything is picture perfect! I've looked at it all again and again. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Ya'll are always so kind to pinkie. The pecan to the right is starting to shade out the one on that side of the arbor. I'm a little conflicted on that, but, trees are hard to come by up here so...

And trsinc, I think you are seeing the daylillies on the right background.

That yard has Plantation Tall Fescue in it. It needed a trim job but I was a little behind with the weekend excursion.

Jim, all I ask is that you don't post any pics too fast to show what a lush yard in full bloom really looks like. ;)

And, Roselee, thanks for your kind words.

You, RC, are responsible for my getting a "pinkie". She is not quite as pretty as yours yet, but putting on quite a show this year. Thank you, as always, for sharing your beautiful garden with us.

Now, I have a question for you, RC. WHEN do you prune pinkie? Mine is getting a little out of hand, but don't know when the right time is to shape her.

RE: The blizzard set Pinkie back

I usually trim out the dead wood and any dieback after they start to green up in the spring and the danger of hard frost are past.

I wait to do much else until after the big spring flush is past.

As you have probably already found out, if they are happy the can get pretty lush. If you have them near any place where you walk or sit you have to kind of snip them a little every few weeks.

Good luck with them Carrie.

I rooted one from a "trimming", RC, have it on a back fence where it can run wild ..... and it has done just that. It should put on a show for me next year if it doesn't drown first. Thanks for the info, I will just trim for now to try to keep the one in the front under control, and probably cut more severely after it blooms in the Spring.
