I grow them too. If they like the location, they will freely reseed.

Wow, it's remarkable that you raised them to blooming size from that tiny seedling. Congratulations!

I've grown them off and on in years past. They'd go a couple of years for me. My mother said they grew wild at the 'sand hill' farm on the south side of San Antonio where she spent her childhood. Sayer's was the name of the community. She said they grew along the sides of ditches, so I surmise they like a little water and maybe sandy soil.

I haven't seen them for sale for awhile, but noticed them recently at Lowes. They are beautiful and last a week when cut for the vase. They come in white and pink also.

I guess they do kinda look like some sort of dessert. :) I know people like to knock them, but peat pellets work really well for me.

I saw these flowers recommended as a plant to grow for my area. When I started looking for seeds I learned that it's been hybridized into a lot of colors and double flower forms, such as the Echo mix. But, I wanted to grow the original wildflower, if possible, so these are Eustoma grandiflorum / Eustoma exaltatum ssp. russellianum seeds. Every now and then I get focused on trying to grow a particular native plant (such as Texas lantana, which I finally grew last year), but I think it was worth all the effort in this case.

Carrie, in my garden they grow in full sun, poor soil, good drainage and with infrequent but deep watering. They are kinda picky little rascals!

Those are very pretty. Congratulations on your success with the seeds. I don't think they would like my climate.
