We went to Lake Hills/Medina Lake area today and the hills were alive with blooming Flame leaf sumac. It's red foliage is a show stopper in the fall, but it's pretty impressive when blooming too ...

I wish I could dig one up and move it full size to my yard ...

I don't have time or space to grow everything native and beautiful, but if I were starting over this is one I'd plant, On the other hand, there's always room for one more, right?

Here is a link that might be useful: Flame leaf sumac ...

Flame leaf sumac, why don't we have one? Did you find us some? I still haven't found one around here but I haven't been able to get to Barton Springs and they might have one.
I had to add to this post....when we lived in Drippin', they were all over on our property and I am ashamed to say, I took them for granted, : (

Jolana, I know what you mean. I used to have the pink Texas buckeyes growing wild in my back yard (we had an acre) and they were just weeds to me.

I have them suckering under an oak. The large one up the hill from me died in the drought.

Let's get one each this fall, I'm ready! I haven't even been to a nursery in months but right now it is too hot when I am not around as much
