You have a bumper crop for sure! I have a satsuma, but mine doesn't produce much, probably because it doesn't get enough sun as I planted it near the brick wall of the house for cold protection. I wish mine was further out in the open. Does yours grow in a climate warmer than San Antonio? But what mine does produce are wonderful and sweet. With the few we have we just leave them on the tree until we're ready to eat one.

The poles were probably put there to prop up the limbs since it tends to spread wide and when heavy with fruit the branches break.

Thank you! I live in southeast Texas, zone 9a. We get very warm here, similar to San Antonio, but I'm positive our humidity is much high, as is our annual rainfall. Indeed, the poles were there to support the branches and that's exactly what I'm using them for now too! The tree is a little unwieldy at the moment and many small twigs have several baseball size satsumas on them, so they're supported with twine. I haven't watered this tree at all this year.

What a beautiful orange tree. I saw a beautiful one growing on the north side of a house( maybe with a bit of western orientation) but close to the house in East Austin and with over hanging large tree canopy , I think. . It was loaded with fruit. Tasty but not as orange as yours.

Did you have problems with coons being attracted by the fish heads in the ground?
