SA Botanical Center as Pretty as I've Ever Seen it ...

Maybe it was the perfect fall weather, or the wonderful group of friends, but today the SABC was as pretty as I've ever seen it. Here are a just a few of the many photos taken ... Enjoy!

Changsha mandarin ...

Satsuma mandarin. Seeing the size and spread of these trees I am more at a loss than ever on where to plant the Satsuma and Changsha that are still sitting in their pots out in my yard, but to show us the mature sizes and forms of plants are one of the ways in which botanical gardens are useful for us to visit. ...

Perhaps a color scheme one could use for painting a store room or back porch ...

The special art on display was in the form of giant insects ...

Their placements were absolutely inspired! ....

Hope you enjoyed the short tour. Visit and see it all when you can!

Jolana and Tammy, I could hardly wait to look at 'our' Barbados Cherry tree. It was blooming nicely, but it had no tempting fruit ... LOL

Patty, you want me to catch you one around here, they seem that big
Roselee, I want you to know that even DH loved looking at these colors, I want to go back, lol

Jolana, sounds like a deal, but don't call me to help catch it ... LOL! Until then Patty, here's a really cool one we all said we'd like to have in our yards. I did once put up a halloween spider in my green house just for fun :-) ...

Omar said he had Giant Turk's Cap bloom all last winter in a pot on his front porch. I'm putting the one he gave me on my front porch and hoping for another warm winter. Look at all those buds from this one at the SABC waiting their turn to bloom ...

Isn't this Pink Knotweed pretty spilling over the pot? Never thought of doing this, but plan to. Schumachers has them in four in pots. Might have to pay them another visit ...

Okay, that huge spider would be pushing it for me, LOL
Roselee, you know you want to come catch a big ole critter, lol
I see how you are rationing those pretty pictures. LOL
That knotweed is really pretty

RE: SA Botanical Center as Pretty as I've Ever Seen it ...

A few more pictures to 'ration out'. LOL After all they aren't doing any good just sitting in my computer. :-)

A nice combination photographed in the misty tropical grotto ...

Full sun combo ...

Water lily ...

And the most beautiful flower of all!!! -- Jasmine, niece of one of the ladies I went with. Look at that smile ...

These were taken at ARE. I think this salvia might be Chiampas sage which Schumachers offers ...

The cigar plant was absolutely beaming ...

Another picture of Mrs. Dudley Cross with a view of the ARE grounds in the background. I love how they combine grasses, perennials, yuccas, cactus and agaves with the roses ...

Hope you enjoyed seeing a few more photographs.

Be happy gardening! :-)

Those are two beautiful places and such wonderful plant ideas.

Might be a while for my yard to look like that. But with much appreciated help from my GW friends, it's looking a lot better out there.

Roselee, thanks for posting the picture of the Pink Knotweed. I had never seen it before, so yesterday when I was helping a neighbor lady carry home plants that I had given her, and saw it growing in her bed, I knew what it was and asked her for a start.

Jim, you are welcome. I want to mention that in some parts of the country Pink knotweed is considered to be aggressive. It has never shown that characteristic in my yard where it makes a nice colorful groundcover such as between the rocks under the swing and in other dry areas. Actually most of my yard can be considered a 'dry area' LOL!

Also after seeing what they did with it at the SABC I'm going to try it in my strawberry pot and in other pots of mixed plants where it can spill over and show off more.

Happy gardening with Pink knotweed!

In the sixth picture from the top, what is that plant with the "fruits" hanging from it. I guess I'm the only one who doesn't know.

I'm soooooo wanting spring to be here. (Didn't want to say I was "ready" for it cuz I sure ain't ready -- garden-wise or physically.)

wilo, you aren't the only one. :) I looked at these pictures early this morning and wondered the same thing.
