And the berm works too

Some people questioned why we had the berm and the answer is that the front yard slopes from the street to the yard and we needed to keep all that water out of the area as well.

So we're just thrilled with the way it's working!

And since we haven't gotten around to taking it down yet, note Santa's runway in the front yard. Those lights actually strobe like a real runway, it's probably the coolest thing I own!

And to keep this gardening related, I'm starting tomato seeds this afternoon.

Here's hoping for a good new year for everyone's gardens!

Everything looks great! I know the feeling of happiness when it finally rains and tests out your project. A few years ago Bob built a dam planter beside the house to divert water to the street that came down the hill through the neighbors yards into ours. And yes, I did call it the 'dern dam' at first since it didn't seem to fit in with my landscaping plans at the time, but it worked out fine :-) With the first rain we were out sloshing around in it going 'Hurray -- it works'.

Your Santa runway is darling. So glad you are planting tomato seeds today ... hahaha!
