It looks great! I didn't know what MDF was so looked it up and found out it medium density fiber board. I had to study it for a few moments to reaize that the lights lay in the slots and the plant trays rest on the board. Ingenious! Thanks for showing this to us.

Thanks Roselee - I didn't do a very good job of explaining did I? Glad you could see the picture clearly enough :-)

I should probably add the MDF is a moisture resistant type called Medex. MDF is great for a lot of projects, but usually swells terribly if exposed to water. The Medex should be a little better if I do have any accidental spills.

is the rope light directly on the bottom board? i see clips available to keep them off whatever surface... not sure if they are truly needed...

Lena- yes the lights are directly on the board. I tacked them down with those U shaped nails- you know the ones with two pointy ends? I'm sure there's a real name for them, but the mulch guy is asleep so I can't ask him.

haaaay, it is me again! did you have to cut the light rope? i bought 150 ft, along with the parts/plug ends. trying to figure out how to cut/connect the cut pieces...

No, I just bought a rope close to the size i needed and made it work. I remember looking at those spools, but didn't want to mess with assembling.
