Freshair, there's nothing wrong with non-native plants as long as they grow well. I've had 7 years of experiments at the old house on limestone rubble south of DFW so I know what to do. Learned lessons the hard way. I'm very prepared now.

Check out The Natural Gardener's place near Oak Hill (near 290 and 71) for bulk mulch. You can bag yourself, load in a truck, or have them deliver in bulk. If you have ever heard of the Ladybug brand of products, this is his nursery/garden center. See the link below as it takes you to his price list for bulk items.

For your stone, there are a handful of places up my way just south of 620 and Anderson Mill Road. This would be a pretty decent drive for you though....probably close to 30-40 minutes.

You can check with the local dump, they grind up the christmas trees into mulch. It is free if you bag yourself, if they use a front-in loader, then its $5 a scoop. In one year, it turns into the most beautiful soil, I bought a 24 ft trailer just to take advantage of this. I put down about 15 scoops every spring. I am trying to raise the level of my yard, to prevent it from flooding. Barbra
