Wagon Wheels as trellis

So I been thinking about how I can work veggies into my existing beds this year ( already realized I bit off more than I can chew with new landscaping projects) and since space will be an issue, I had the revelation last night that my wagon wheels from my precious mother's gardens of past would work great as a trellis and give me some vertical gardening options. Now the question is how can I safely get them secured in the ground to use them. I certainly don't want them falling over (especially on a dog!!). I have sandy loam with lots of small rocks and the engineering aspect of this project has me at a loss. How would you do it?

Here's a pic of one them at my previous property.
