Hi - I just received some packages of bulbs:
alliums
anemones
dutch iris
asiatic lilies
oxalis
gladiolas
so can I plant these now? Our weather,
( here in zone -8) has been really cold
and kind of warm. Any advice, would be soooooo
greatly appreciated!!! Thank you, all. tina_2 |

| I am no authority on it but I live in zone 7 and planted 50 dutch iris bulbs 3 weeks ago and they are coming up now, the freezing weather/warm weather we've had hasn't bothered them as far as I can tell. I don't know about the others. |

| sorry, it's too late for the anemones. But you can keep them for next fall. They don't mind the cold, but hate the heat. It takes 4 months for them to bloom and that is too hot. If you decide to plant them. Soak them for at least 4 hours. Then plant with the little dots up. If you can't see the dots, plant them on their sides. Cover in about an inch of soil. The foliage will be pretty and you might get to see some blooms. I would hold the glads for another month. Plant the rest now. They will enjoy the cold. Afterall, the ground does not freeze in zone 8 and that's where the action is with bulbs. |
