I LOVE the scent of lilac! It always reminds me of playing house as a little girl beside the big old lilac bush at my Grandmother's house.

I have never seen one. You will post a pic., right?

Not only have I not seen one -- I've never smelled one. Can you include a little scent with those photos? ;-) Is there anything the scent can be compared to so I can have a little idea?

Carrie snapped these yesterday. Look at all those buds yet to open! She says it will be in full bloom in a few more days.

Lovely! I'm doing my best to imagine the scent. If I stare at the picture long enough it seems I can almost pick it up :-)

That looks like the Persian Lilac I bought at Lowes recently! I'm so excited that yours is doing so well. I happened to see one on my walk today. Asked about it and was told that the homeowner in his 80's brought it from the family farm in TX. Said that all the old farmers had them.

Carrie, is yours in morning sun? That's what the tag said, but the homeowner this morning has his near the curb and it should bet a lot of sun and heat.

sorry to ramble on. I've missed lilacs for decades and I'm still leaping for joy.

Cynthia, mine gets sun until late afternoon and then is shaded by the fence and trees. When I planted it (four inch pot), I had no idea if it would even survive, and to tell you the truth, did little to help it do so. I probably saved it's life by my negligence as I sometimes have a tendency to be over protective.
