My Ellens look like that every year after winter. I cut off all the brown leaves once the weather warms up. During the winter, these protect from frost and cold. Those tall unsightly necks will soon be covered over with new long straplike leaves, so I wouldn't worry too much about them. You may have the new grown up inside of those necks, so I don't cut them down.

you can run those suckers over with a lawn mower, throw them on the beach with no soil, leave them in the trunk of the car and not kill them. I love crinums they are so hardy.
