| Here are the directions to the plant swap: Here are directions to the plant swap. DO NOT TRY AND USE THE MAPS ON THE INTERNET OR YOU’LL GET LOST Map quest and Mapit both have it wrong. From 820 in Ft. Worth you turn onto I-35W south, head south and stay on I-35W until you see the Hwy 174 Cleburne exit. This will be in Burleson. Head south on Hwy 174 (which is also called Wilshire Blvd) until you come to Joshua. When you come up a small hill, you’ll see an Assembly of God church on the right. In front of the church is Main St. Take Main St. and go three streets down to Yvonne Dr. It’s the 7th house on the left 1011 Yvonne Dr. Look for the birdhouse mailbox. If you have any questions or get lost then call me Carol 817 447-3438. It’s real easy to find. |
| I wish I could go, but my boss needs me to do my job on the weekends ;-( |
| I'm on the east side of dallas. I'm hoping I can make it. I'm marking my calandar. I have a question. I'm new to this and gardening in general. I am trying to start a container garden on my terrace. But I don't have much to start with. So I wont' be bringing anything to the swap. Will there be any generous givers for a beginner? |

| I'm looking forward to the spring plant swap. It was so nice to come home from the fall plant swap with so many plants and I want to say that it was the most fun time I've had. You gardeners are a riot. |
| sharpertx, yes gardeners are a generous lot. Most of us would rather pot up and tote our babies to a swap in order to give them a good home than throw them away. Of course some people bring stuff to trade, but some just bring to give. I bring to give/pass on, since so many people were so nice to me in the beginning with advice and plants to get me started. As our gardens evolve we change things or give up on certain things, or find out we'd rather have something else in that place. |

| Melvalena, you're so right. There are always lots of generous people at the plant swap. You should take home lots of plants to help you get started. |

| I'm bringing to give away! Feel free! PJ |

| I think Carrie Berry fits her. She's a Berry good gardener. Gettin a little corney. lol Oh that canna sounds pretty. Does anyone want any Blue Star Creeper? I had a hard time finding it. My friend Terry ordered hers and I saw it and had to have some. I finally found some in a big nursery in Arkansas. |
| I can hardly wait for the plant swap! I keep reminding myself to leave some open space in the garden for some goodies! I only live about 5 blocks from the swap, so I should be able to run home, put the plants in the ground, and then hurry up and wait! ha! |

| Alison, I'll have to show you my hubbies veggie garden. It's small but we're proud of it. I told him about all your maters and he ask if you have any heirlooms that produce the big ones. |
| I want some of the Blue Star Creeper. Carol Ann - do you want a canna? |
- Posted by carolann_z8 Joshua,TX (gardengateclub@sbcglobal.net) on Mon, Mar 26, 07 at 14:25
| Ok Carrie Berry, you got it. I'd like a canna. I have mostly yellow cannas and tropicanas. txtomato was looking for a dwarf canna but I forgot the name. Do you happen to have any dwarf cannas? |
| Tx tomato sounds ready for this! (Pre-dig the holes before you leave!LOL!) PJ |

| I know, she's a born plant swapper! lol "I only live about 5 blocks from the swap, so I should be able to run home, put the plants in the ground, and then hurry up and wait! ha!" Alison, the hardest part is to hurry and wait. lol |
| PJ must not want the canna, Carol Ann - she did not answer me. LOL |
- Posted by carolann_z8 Joshua,TX (gardengateclub@sbcglobal.net) on Mon, Mar 26, 07 at 16:58
| PJ, you better speak up bout that canna or Carrie might give it to somebody else. She's probably busy watching all this rain we're getting. Isn't it wonderful? |
| I love it - ran me inside - bummer, but it is worth it to be able to see those life saving drops coming down. It has been such a slow, steady rain here. |
Carolann!!!! I have dwarf cannas!!! Yawantsome? |

| I'd love some Melvalena. Are you going to be able to come to our plant swap? What plants are you looking for? I have lots of different plants I'm potting up and my daughter is bringing some veggie plants. Pam, my computer broke down a while back when you posted that you can't come and I overlooked your post. |
| Yes, I'm planning on being there. I'll bring you some of these little cannas. I'm planning to make it to all three DFW swaps. the near Ft Worth one, the Ft Worth one, and the Lewisville one which is this weekend. |
| Wooo hoo a plant swapin' fiend! LOL! I want the Canna! I was out playing with my home-made rain chain! I have to work on it while it's raining to see what's going on. PJ |

| Carolann, would you mind if I bring some friends to the plant swap? One of my friends grandmothers has a big over grown yard with lots of plants and she said we can come there and dig up lots of plants. She really needs us to do this so she can have more room. It is very overcrowded. |
- Posted by carolann_z8 Joshua,TX (gardengateclub@sbcglobal.net) on Tue, Mar 27, 07 at 18:51
| Hi Txcgirl, you can bring as many people as you want. That sounds like fun to be able to dig up plants. |

| Alison, I'm ready for it too. You just never know what you'll see at the plant swap. Does anyone want some Purple Passion Vine? |
| I love purple Passion Vine even tho it hates me!!!! I had to log in again on here. GW forgets who I am every once in a while and it makes me feel unloved! LOL!PJ |
- Posted by carolann_z8 Joshua,TX (gardengateclub@sbcglobal.net) on Fri, Mar 30, 07 at 13:14
| PJ, I've been having to log in a lot more on here too. It's annoying!! I got a start of a purple passion vine that's evergreen and it has over tripled since I planted it last year. |
| txtomato. I don't have any pink dwarf cannas, these are all reds/yellows/oranges. Carolann, I'd be interested in some of that purple passion vine. If yer itchin to start swapin a bit sooner see below: Melvalena <--getting ready for the Lewisville swap its tomorrow. |
- Posted by carolann_z8 Joshua,TX (gardengateclub@sbcglobal.net) on Fri, Mar 30, 07 at 15:51

| melvalena I would like somw of the dwarf cannas. I will also be at the Ft Wth one on the 7th so hope to meet you there. ;o) carolann_z8 Thanks, |
| You got it debbiedo! |

| I look forward to meeting you Debbie. There's going to be several in the round robin game but just in case you miss it, I have plenty. |
| Melvalena, what color are your dwarf cannas or do you know their names? |
- Posted by txcountrygirl (My Page) on Mon, Apr 2, 07 at 12:00
| Hi Carrie, if you have enough cypress vine I would like some and Carolann, some passion plant. When I get a list together I will tell everyone what I will bring. |
| I will have a few spider lily babies. These are the red kind that bloom in the fall I think called Schoolhouse lilies? If anyone is interested I could jewel up some journals for swaps? I really don't have much in the way of plants but I love putting jewels on stuff :) lol! Hugs! Christina |
- Posted by carolann_z8 Joshua,TX (gardengateclub@sbcglobal.net) on Mon, Apr 2, 07 at 22:09
| Txcgirl, I've got one for you. Christina, everyone likes spider lilies and journals would be a nice thing to swap. |
| Carrie, they are mostly reds and yellows. I cleaned out the garage today, in part looking for the packaging for those little cannas. I must have thrown it out. They've been in the ground for about 2 or 3 years. I'll do a search and see if I can figure out what they are called. They may not in fact be dwarf cannas. I do know they are short and look like cannas. :) Less than 3 ft tall, More like 24 inches tall. They get full sun. |
| Carol Ann, for all these things we trade in advance, at what time would we be able to exchage these BEFORE the actual swap starts? Is there a place where we can list all this? |
- Posted by carolann_z8 Joshua,TX (gardengateclub@sbcglobal.net) on Mon, Apr 2, 07 at 23:14
| The plants we bring for someone will just be kept out of the round robin game. We can still list what we're bringing on here if we want to. I'm looking for a Lime Zinger Elephant Ear if anyone has one please let me know. |
| After reading the comments on lindseyrose's thread on "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow", this is what I would like to have. Anyone have one to share???? |
| It's a beauty aint it?PJ |
| Carrie, I can try to root one for you. DS, did it before but he has his GGF green thumb, lol I have read that they are very easy to root |
| Would anyone like some sedum groundcover starts? I use one of them as a living ground cover. I have two chartreuse (sp?) that are mexicanum and ogon and dragons blood that I am rooting for the swap and can put names on them for you if you would like. I also have swedish ivy and some baby ivy if anyone wants some I was told it's called baby wandering jew but the leaves are only about three quarters of an inch. Anyway, just let me know. ;) Christina |
| Jolana, that would be wonderful. Don't know anything about this plant, but I was intriqued by it's beauty. |
- Posted by carolann_z8 Joshua,TX (gardengateclub@sbcglobal.net) on Wed, Apr 4, 07 at 11:58
| Christina, you should put them in the Round Robin Game. They all sound like something I'd be running for. lol Terry is bringing some Blue Star Creeper for the Round Robin Game. |
Here is a link that might be useful: Blue Star Creeper
| Pictures of my 'cute'(small) bog/pond from last year is in gallery here on GW. I'm filling it with some dirt and doing bog plants this year. I'll post that pic as soon as stuff starts to get growing! PJ |
| about a ground cover that takes cruddy drainage? I need to fight off the Bermuda that can take poor drainage despite what I've read about it!It grows in a bog just darn fine!!!Darn it!!! PJ |
| Surprise!!!!! Surprise!!!! Surprise!!!! I have a big pot of the yesterday today and tomorrow. I was planning on bringing the pot to the swap. I've had it for several years but thought I had to bring it in for the winter. I keep dragging it in and out. Under these conditions it doesn't flower much. It has one open flower on it now. I am selling my house so I'd rather pass it on to someone who wants it and will take care of it, in case I want cuttings from it later. I'll let you guys duke it out over who gets the pot. :) How do you guys want the drama to play out? How about: |
| Melvalena I'll get into the pillow fight at least for some clippings!!!!! |
| Do we bring our own pillows? LOL!PJ |

| Carrie must have overlooked this. I know she wants this plant. CARRIE...where are you!!! I'm yelling for her. hehehe |
| Carolann, you're back Carrie's probaly watching the basketball game, lol Just kidding |
| Carrie was out moving plants back out that she had to put back in storage. I would REALLY like that plant, but don't know about the mud wrestling - I can get dirty with the best of them, but Carol Ann may not let me bathe in her house if I were all muddy. Got to devise a method of sneaking this one out when no one is looking - not even PJ. |
- Posted by carolann_z8 Joshua,TX (gardengateclub@sbcglobal.net) on Mon, Apr 9, 07 at 23:10
| Jolana, I am back and a few plants followed me home. It's so nice to be back on GW. I sure missed you guys. I just got home a couple of hours ago and Carrie I'm too pooped to help you come up with a scheme to grab the plant. I will let you take a shower if you want to mudd wrestle. |
| I'm counting the days till the swap...can't wait! |
| IF I get to come, I can push you in the pool, lol |
| Now, that's a thought!! Don't know exactly how they would get the mud out of the pool, but then, guess that would be their problem---LOL. Carol Ann, HELP, I really need a very devious plan so that no one will know where the plant went. I can always pick it up later. |
- Posted by carolann_z8 Joshua,TX (gardengateclub@sbcglobal.net) on Tue, Apr 10, 07 at 8:31

| I love it too. This is a repeat bloomer but I don't have enough sun for it. PJ, this is a Native Texas plant. It was born from a tiny wee bulb and grew up in Texas. |
| Likely story Carol! LOL! PJ |
- Posted by carolann_z8 Joshua,TX (gardengateclub@sbcglobal.net) on Wed, Apr 11, 07 at 16:52
| Carrie, I have a plan...very devious!!! (evil laugh) You yell, "hey look it's the mulch guy" and then run grab the plant. |
| Good plan, Carol Ann - now, may I have the daylily as well???? Bwaaaahaaaaahaaaaaa!!!!!!! |
- Posted by carolann_z8 Joshua,TX (gardengateclub@sbcglobal.net) on Thu, Apr 12, 07 at 10:30
| I can see that I need to dig up more daylilies. Carrie, do you have any more ferns or any hostas? If you do then bring them and then go look for the mulch guy. bwaaaahaaaa |
| I wish I had the mulch guy today --- he could help me dig. LOL |
| Weedwack! I need him to weedwack! TX sized weeds need a hugantic gas-powered weedwacker. My arms are buzzing for an hour after I'm done! Good Lord that thing is heavy.PJ |
- Posted by carolann_z8 Joshua,TX (gardengateclub@sbcglobal.net) on Fri, Apr 13, 07 at 13:46
| Wouldn't it be nice if we all could twich our noses like on Bewitched and have the mulch guy appear. lol I'm at my DDS house in Speegoville and she just had minor surgery but is doing great. She has tons of plants and she wants me to dig some up for her to take to the plant swap. She has Blue Mist and lots of other plants. We'll have a really good swap this year. Lots of goodies. PJ, you're tough...you get that weedwacker and show those weeds whose boss!!! |

| Oh Carrie Berry, I wish I could help you out but ...I don't want to. BWhaaaaa He's such good help in the garden. Susan, you need to come to the swap. You could catch a ride with Goober Girl. I might even let you fill out three ballots!!!! |
| Huh? How could she catch a ride with you, you're north and already there Susan, can you go? |
- Posted by carolann_z8 Joshua,TX (gardengateclub@sbcglobal.net) on Sat, Apr 14, 07 at 20:14
| Oh Jolana, you can't pretend not to be our Goober Girl. Maybe she's holding out for the mulch guy!!! I say we give her the mulch guy if she comes. |
| Hehehe, it's worth a try. I would give her a special plant |
| Yeah! I'll grab him and run.... then again he might be stronger n me....PJ |
| I want Susan to come to the swap, but she can't have the mulch guy unless she wins him fair and square !!!! |
| I'm pretty sure I can be there. I'll be bringing some seedlings, flowers, herbs, veggies. I need to see what else can be dug up. My beds are just going into their 3rd summer and not ready for dividing yet. I have some volunteers I should be able to dig up too. Any suggestions for food? Who's bringing what so far? I would like some pink daylillys, salvia, brugs, evergreen passion vine for the catapillars and ???????? |
| Hey, Bev, that is good news, it will be so good to see you again. I'll let Carol Ann answer about the food, but the one I went to last Fall was just a pot luck, and there was a lot of food. Email me about the brugs. |
- Posted by carolann_z8 Joshua,TX (gardengateclub@sbcglobal.net) on Sun, Apr 15, 07 at 9:28
| OH Boy, Bev I hope you can come. We haven't gotten to hang out together in a while now. I'll be sure and dig up some more Strawberry Candy Daylilies so we'll have plenty. I have the Maypop Passion Vine but it's not evergreen. As far as food....bring anything you want to bring. We always have tons of all kinds of food. Happy plant swappers will eat anything! LOL |
| Does anyone want cannas???? |
| I'd like some of the cannas. do you have a wish list?? thanks Dorothy B. |
- Posted by carolann_z8 Joshua,TX (gardengateclub@sbcglobal.net) on Tue, Apr 17, 07 at 9:49
| Hi Dorothy, I'm setting up a seperate table for everyone to put free plants. I'm putting lots of cannas, Gold Lirope and misc. plants on it and I think Terry is putting Iris on it. All other plants will be for the Round Robin Game. We need to make a wish list to see what we need to dig up or bring. OK...what does everyone want to wish for? P.S. the mulch guy doesn't count. lol |
| My wish list? Wish I could be there. It's just too long of a drive. |
| Wish you could, too, Kathy - we'll be thinking of you!!!! I am looking for perennials (sun or shade), no more tropicals for me - these can all go to Carol Ann. (grin) If there are those who have something specific they want from me, please email me so I can make myself a list. Senior moments, you know. |
- Posted by carolann_z8 Joshua,TX (gardengateclub@sbcglobal.net) on Tue, Apr 17, 07 at 15:21
| Kathy, you could go to Jolanas and ride with her. I'm looking for hostas, cedar sage and ferns. |
| Don't be pawning people off on me, LOL Kathy and I just might be going to Vegas or something, where the actually HAVE mulch guys, LOL |
| Okay, forget the swap, Carol Ann, I am going to Vegas with Jolana and Kathy. We'll tell you all about it though we probably WILL NOT share the mulch "guys" (plural). |

| I wanna go!!! Hand waving high in the air!! Pick me...pick me!!! |
| I'd rather go to a plant swap then Vegas any day! |
| You CANNOT go, Carol Ann, you are the hostess!!! |

| I know I can't go. I was just joshin'. I really don't like Vegas. It's full of places that take your money with nothing in return. I could buy a lot of plants with all the money the machines would take from me. |
| Well, you must go to the wrong places, lol |
| Who is worrying about the money--- we are talking mulch guys (plural) !!!!! |

| Does anyone want any Broken Colors 4 O'Clocks (Mirabilis Jalapa)? They're very pretty and some of the flowers have strips. |
Here is a link that might be useful: Broken Colors
| Do you have plants or seeds? If plants, how many? LOL |
| Carolann I would love some of each of your 4 o'clocks, their both really pretty & I'll take plants or seeds ;o) Debbie |
| I don't think my quarter will last very long. |
| Hahahaha, Kathy, we can stand on a corner and maybe get a couple more, lol |
| Last time I was is Vegas, Jolana, I think all the corners were taken, but we'll think of something. |

| Why...you hussies!!!!! LOL This conversation could get confusing. One quarter for 4 0'clocks and stand on the corner for them. I wouldn't make you guys pay a quarter for them and standing on the corner would be a waste of time. The 4 0'clocks aren't even sold on the corner. Sheesh....you guys. |
| Melvalena, that is a beautiful plant! I would love to have a cutting of it. Not sure if I could duke it out for it though. I don't think my kids would like to see their mom in a pillow fight or mud competition for a plant :-)heeeheee Carolann, I would love to have one of your broken color 4 o'clock and a strawberry daylily if you still have some. PJ, I will bring some water plants if you're interested. I have fairy moss, yellow water iris, pickerel rush, maybe lizard tail and umbrella plant. |

| Kay, I'll pot up plenty but you have to grab it in our Round Robin Game. There's a lot so if you miiss it I may be able to fix you up. Terry is looking for water plants too. She's bringing lots of cool plants. |
| Carol, do people ever sow interest in seed at your swap, since it is still early enough for some. I just saw I left the h out of show but it fits, hehehehe |

| Jolana, we have a big basket where people take a bag of seeds and leave a bag of seeds. Sorta a seed swap with the honor system. hehehe |
| Carolann, my half sister Louise wants to come with me, is that okay? We don't get to do that much together and I think it will be fun. She's a hoot! |

| I'd love for her to come. You two can spend the night in my travel trailer if you want. It has 2 bedrooms and they're at each end of it so there's lots of privacy and she won't even hear you snore!!! LOL |
| LOL, you said you would never rat me out on snoring. Thank you |
| I'm needing directions for the swap Carolann and let me know what time you would like me to get there (since I'm gonna help sign people in and such) or if you need additional help setting up. I'm coming from Keller - your welcome to email me at smurfett8@sbcglobal.net Thanks! |

| Hi Angie, it would be nice if you could get here around 10:45. I really appreciate your help. I think I should give you one of Jolana or PJ's plants for being so nice. lol Here are the directions to the plant swap: I've had several people ask for directions to the plant swap and it's a good thing they didn't map it on the internet because both mapquest and yahoo maps have it wrong. They both say to take Thousand Oaks to Yvonne Dr. but Thousand Oaks is a deadend street. |

| Kathy, I thought I heard you snorin' a couple nights ago...or was that a train? lol I may be in BIG trouble!!! I can't find my Broken Colors 4 O'clocks. I think my old fashioned phlox grew like crazy and it got burried. Just in case I don't find it buy next Saturday I went out and bought some seeds. They are very easy to propagate. |
