Sorry, we're probably going to need a picture or at least more of a description. What do the leaves look like, what color are the "blooms", what color do they turn in the fall, how dense is the shade? The shape of the leaves would be a big help. Oak trees just bloomed and are now dropping their "beards", pecans also have "beards" for flowers. And, where in Texas are you? That can also have an impact on what will grow.
