Don't do it! Privet grows everywhere and I think even variegated privet is highly invasive. Our Texas woodlands are covered in privet because birds eat the berries and disperse the shrub everywhere in their droppings! It chokes out native plants. Perhaps someone on this board can recommend a shrub that looks like variegated privet, but isn't invasive.
