Jupiter's Beard (Centranthus)...thoughts?

I purchased a one-gallon jupiter's beard yesterday at the Antique Rose Emporium after having seen it in gorgeous bloom on a trip to New Mexico last year. Have any of you grown it? If so, is it planted in full sun or shade and does it like moist or dry conditions?

Even tho I'm in CA it probably likes the same conditions. Sun and on the dryish side. Its leaves will droop if it needs water. Indestructible here.

Thanks for the information, Iris gal. I will plant it in a very sunny, well-drained area. Does your centranthus bloom all summer? I hope it has an extended bloom season for me here in southeast Texas. It was in full bloom in the fall when I first saw this plant.
