HELP! what spiky weed is this?

HELP!!
I really need to know what this thistle/nettle plant this is.
I have read that some Stinging nettles can be eaten and are very nutritiousness and taste good, but this one dose not look exactly like the ones in the photos I have found. Is this a less mature one or is it a different plant all together? It dose look pretty gnarly and has spikes on the stalk plus jagged and spiky edges on the leaves.
If this is the edible kind that would be nice, however I do not want to cook it until I am sure!
