Did you use some hay or alalfa as mulch. Someone told me that they use a lot of seed retardant to keep down the weeds that that might get transferred to the soil?? This is hearsay . It was something that was said to me so I am not standing behind the statement, just repeating it.

It could be the weather this year or planting times because we've had some hot weather early. I plant lettuce, radishes, and beets in November and grow them over the winter. The lettuce and radishes are finished now and the beets are still looking okay for a few more weeks but I consider all of those winter crops in San Antonio.
