Both plants are almost certainly in the Apiaceae family. I'm pretty sure the first plant is Torilis nodosa. The second one is harder to identify because there are several species in that family with small white flowers on a long inflorescence. It could be Torilis arvensis, Chaerophyllum tainturieri, or Conium maculatum.

Are you sure it's not Queen Anne's Lace, aka Wild Carrot?

Boy, goldenecho, I sure HOPE it isn't Queen Annes Lace, which it sure looks like to me. I brought some seeds back from Oregon years ago when visiting my mother, she told me I would be sorry; should have listened! This stuff just will not go away, grows everywhere, now it's in the grass, and have to spend lots of time every year trying to eradicate it with not much success.

Well, if it IS Queen-Annes-Lace you can actually eat the root and flower, which is one consolation. :-) I haven't tried it yet though. Mine isn't Queen-Anne's-Lace though. I looked it up. Queen Anne's Lase has leaves at the base of the flower. This doesn't. But it's a relative.

Ty was right on...the first was Torilis nodosa and the second I'm pretty sure is Torilis arvensis.

I have a bumper crop of the ones you identified as torilis nodosa. I've been pulling them all spring!
