I noticed a few of these on bluebonnets in my yard but it doesn't seem to have affected the plants at all. We did wonder what they were. I went out today and couldn't find the bugs or any damaged plants so it must be the sheer numbers that did hers in.

Shirley, thanks for checking and letting us know that you have seen them in your patch, but the bluebonnets are still okay. Yes, the damage is probably contingent on how numerous they are

It was ID'd by Rhizo on the Insect forum. It likes legumes and quite a few other things. It's been around a while in its several colors and so have the bluebonnets.
