oozy spot on tree

I have a White Oak tree with an oozing wound. The hole is not quite as big as a pencil eraser. There is this pinkish liquid coming out and the bugs and butterflies just flock to it. There also seems to be some more liquid oozing out of a crack in the bark nearby. What sort of bug did this and do I need to kill it? And how?

I have flushed it with water from the hose and nothing has come out of the hole but air.

that slime flux is weird sounding!

My nursery guy said the hole was caused by an Ash Borer. Now I have to treat with Fertilome to kill the bug, or it could lay more eggs and if they get too thick, could kill my tree. This is going to be a bad year for bugs. :-(
