Sounds like fun! Maybe a combination of potato vines, the chartruse and the burgandy, would be nice for a vine. For a good contrasting color perhaps orange Calibrachoa or Marigold.

Another thought is Blue pea vine (Clitoria ternatea) and white petunias, which are very fragrant. Someone might be willing to send/trade seeds of the Blue pea vine.

I'd try to stick to a vine that didn't get too large and one with leaves that would stay fresh looking if the soil dries out some. Others will probably have some good suggestions to offer.

Thanks roselee that's exactly what i'm looking for something with color that will be fragrant for evenings on the back porch. And you are right it will probably need to be a Texas native due to the heat.

Calibrachoa sure is nice, and holds up to the heat. Many colors available. :)
