Oak tree still does not have leaves...

I have a beautiful oak in my yard - 8 yrs old. It has buds but only two leaves and it's the middle of May! It looks like it is still alive as the branches are green inside and pliable. We had a late frost in April and I've been told that may have caused slow emerging leaves but that was over a month ago. Is the tree really still alive? What can I do to bring the leaves out?

One of our very mature post oaks did not leaf out last spring until late May or early June. We thought it had died from the heat/drought of 2011 but it did finally wake up. I bet yours is fine, just sleepy still :-)
