Mine seed around and I let them come up but I have a wild looking garden.I don't have formal beds.

I have a flower beds that have them, rosettes don't bother me at all.

I'll try to get some pics this weekend. I keep adding them by letting them reseed because I'm on a quest to now keep the natives that do well on their own. It's been a tough love gardening experiment in black clay and they are one of the big winners.

Thanks - we seeded a few open spots in various borders and let them grow where they would; had never seen them at a nursery, so didn't really know how the whole plant would eventually look. They like sun, but a nice attribute is that they will still bloom well in shade, though flowers are smaller and plants look a bit more "weedy" to me as they stretch and bend for light. They are hardy and agree they would be great for natural or wild-scaped space like Wantonamara's. Will try to seed some in a mostly native border we have going in the alley.

The surprise when trying them in more traditional borders was that the rosette would grow to something over two feet in diameter after the second year. So, it becomes a 2+ ft tall plant when flowering in May and June, but is a large low plant at most other times. I actually like the rosettes, they were just growing out through the plants in front of them or left holes mid/back border when trimmed after flowering in the locations we initially tried; still looking for ideas on better placement.

I do like the way the one shown below came up through the Texas lantana (l. urticoides) this year. It was up and blooming by the time the lantana hit its growth spurt. This lantana is a bit more open than the tropical varieties, so the rosette should do fine underneath. May try more of the cutleaf daisies elsewhere around its perimeter.

lucas_tx, Would like to see how yours are growing if you do get some pics. Agree they are tough, tough natives that deserve consideration.
