| Hello
I have raised 30 tomato plants this year. It was very challenging! The weather is extremely hot and dry. We are 50% below the average rain. I have 15 different kinds of tomatoes and they are all giving me cracked fruit. Some cracks are so deep I have to cut the tomato almost to the half in order to make salad... Also I have Soldacki and it is quite prolific. The problem is; fruit is la ittle bit bigger than cherry tomato pretty much size of campari tomato. Is this normal? thanks |

| I don't have this problem in the Fort Worth area until July or August. I don't know a whole heck of a lot about Houston weather. This is what I found on line. Tomatoes tend to crack when they receive irregular water. If your tomatoes have gone through a dry spell and you try to make up for it with frequent waterings, the inside of the tomato will plump up faster than the outside can stretch and grow. |
