Bareroot roses at 99cents only store

99 cents! I was stunned when I saw them. Great huge boxes right out of cold storage, no ID only photos on the outside of the boxes (yellow, pink, red, white & lavender, look to be own root and very well branched with large root systems). There must be hundreds, save as many as you can, would hate to see these go to waste. I spoke with the manager and he says they just got them today, and that they will spray them with water and close the boxes at night. 99cents! This store is next to the Academy on Westheimer just east of Hwy. 6 (SW Houston) I've ordered mail order roses from all over and these are as good or better than most at a fraction of the price.

I bet they'll cost a lot more than that to keep them healthy. Sorry to be so negative, but for some reason, cheap roses like that make me think of "free" kittens! lol

I went to the one just below Dunlavy on Westheimer on Friday and got 4 of them. Most tags had been removed, but I found two with tags....Jackson Perkins! Two with tags were Good n Plenty and Snow Cone.

And as for free kittens...all of my cats were free too. Pay to buy a cat? I don't think so!

I buy lots of plants from 99 Cents Only...have gotten a lot of wonderful plants...3 kinds of alocasias, giant white bird of paradise, anthuriums...lots more.

ok, this is for all the "negative" thinkers---they are awesome roses. they are all Jackson & Perkins roses. i know this because sometimes they still have the little metal tags on them. i picked up three of them last week and the one with the tag was a Good n Plenty. I also know that the pictures on the boxes can be decieving. The picture they had on the Good n Plenty box showed a bicolored yellow/orange hybrid tea, when i looked it up on the JP site, it has only 5 petals. Also, when i was living in California I had bought a whole bunch of them, quite a few of them turned out to be Old English roses. I'm partial to the hybrid teas but they were still very beautiful. So give them a try, for 99 cents, you won't be losing much if they don't turn out the way you want. I got mine when the boxes were freshly opened so i got some good pickins. big fat healthy canes! i can't wait to see how they do for me here in Texas. Happy Growing!!!
