I'd be interested in any native plant that would look good in the garden and is deer resistant. The A&M extension service guys here in San Antonio are also very active in researching and promoting native plants that will work in local gardens. They might be a good place to start.

I know its been over 1 year since the last post, but I found pictures of this species in the Smithsonian's database. My guess is they were only recently uploaded.

Overall, I think this could be a really attractive plant in the garden. I would like to include it with the collection of cacti and other succulents near the front door at our house, where its glossy green foliage would contrast well with the other plants.
