Would anyone be interested in growing Buckley's Spiderwort (Tradescantia buckleyi) if plants were commercially available? This South Texas native is very closely related to Purple Heart (T. pallida) - both belong to the series Setcreasea. Unlike Purple Heart, however, it is non-invasive.
Unfortunately, this species is so rare in the wild I can't find a picture of it. I think it is worthy of at least gardening trials given the popularity of Purple Heart. Cultivated specimens exist in major botanical collections, but obtaining one for propagation would probably require the assistance of an organization like the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.
