I don't know that I double the fertilizer, but roses are big eaters. Foliage plants like elephant ears and banana trees will grow much bigger and faster with extra ferilizer. I fertilize bougainvileas at least once a month, sometimes more. You probably know this already, but for others just be sure you water a lot when you give any plant extra food.

I fertilize my brugs more than any other plant I have, and since it is time for the "two a day" waterings with them, I fertilize a lot.

Regarding fertilizer. Did you read the thread on 'maters? It's a whole method of what might be labeled over fertilizing them and if you follow the link on that method there are other plants as well.

I give my tropical plants extra fertilizer to keep them beauties.

That reminds me Carrie and Roselee I now have 6 brugs thanks to the June plant sales. Since I put the initial ones in full blazing sun AND started watering daily with the green stuff weekly they have been jaw dropping gorgeous!
They are in plastic hanging baskets and plastic pots against a wood fence and propped up by the chainlink fence next to it. They will probably go to two a day waterings. But they are so worth the trouble.

I would think any plant/ tree whose leaves are supposed to be a very dark green and are not, could definitely need more fertilizer. Hostas are not one of those. ; o)

I give lots of my plants 'extra' fertilizer, but let me specify that I increase the "frequency" not the dose.

Sorry, I have bougies hanging in pots on the fence...not brugs.

Those are in ground this year and they are hungry and thirst too. Thus far an unnamed pink I have has put out 2 big flushes of floers ince finding her place in the ground. She is covered with puds again.
