Wildflower ID please ....

A friend asked me if we could ID this speckled wild flower that was found growing in Seguin's sandy soil. Any ideas? Thanks!

It looks like a cosmos / Mexican aster to me (Cosmos bipinnatus). However, I have never seen that coloration before.

Cosmos probably but it also seems similar to coreopsis tinctoria. Still...odd coloration

It looks like Coreopsis verticillata Route 66.

Thanks all who recognized it being a coreopsis! Ruth, it looks like you nailed it for sure. Thank you for doing the research. I guess it wasn't a wild flower after all.
