cutting garden in Houston?

Does anyone here do much in the way of arrangements? I am dipping my toe in the CG forum but the response is slow, and they seem to hail mostly from various parts of Yankee Land where it at least gets cool at night.

I'm thinking I may need to cast an eye toward fall flowers, since it's so hot. Also, many of them seem to start from seeds. I would be a complete and utter novice at that. I'm even surprised I've been able to keep four hibiscus plants going, that I ordered online, and when they came in, they were tiny babies. I put them in pots to grow up a bit and they haven't died or anything. (Well, one did, but that's still not bad for me.)

I did see reference to snapdragons over there and I think we can grow those here. Anyone with any info on these? Other suitable flowers/greenery that are heat tolerant and grow well here?

Many flowers like snapdragons will bloom all winter in Houston. I usually wait for a clearance sale at Lowe's for those rather than going with seeds.

Pretty much anything "green" can be used as "filler" for arrangements. Most "standard foundation plants" can be used as filler. I know that we have a number of plants that will grow and flower during the winter/early spring, but I don't know what they are. I think snapdragons are among them, but I'm not sure.

snapdragons fall and early, early spring. They kill over in our heat.
Zinnias, you can't go wrong, throw the seeds out, they tolerate heat, humidity, great cut flowers, all types.

I'm in Houston. I don't spray -icides, and I rarely fertilize.
All these do very well here and make good cut flowers:

plants:
sunflower (might have to plant seeds)
gaura lindheimeri ('whirling butterfies' or other varieties)
cosmos
coreopsis
african zinnia
gaillardia (blanket flower)
tall marigolds
cleome (spider flower)
solidago (goldenrod)

bulbs:
dutch iris
paperwhites
gladiolis

roses: (I don't spray)
Don Juan -- RED climber
Belinda's Dream --LIGHT PINK shrub rose
Mrs. B.R. Cant --DARK PINK huge antique shrub rose
Iceberg --WHITE floribunda
Angel Face --MAUVE floribunda
