I was interested earlier in the year and did some investigating. dchall_san_antonio grows and posted some info on tech turf and a trial with shade turf. I had to search for a while back then. His pics are a bit past halfway down the thread.

Shadow Turf

This spring my oldest son put down sod. He emailed me the following. It is neither of the ones you asked about.

"It is called Density Buffalograss from www.bladerunnerfarms.com. I'm happy with it, but it did have a lot of "native" grass come up in it. Anytime you expose weed seeds to sunlight and water, they germinate. I think this happens when they cut the sod. I've kept after it and it seems to be slowing down now. It does have runners that grow on top of it, but that's how it spreads. It stays nice and green when it's watered, but I don't think it would make a good turf grass if you're going for a golf course look. I'm planning on letting it do its own thing and only mowing it 2-3 times a year."

Shadow Turf is zoysia that is created for shady area. You may want to start a new thread in lawn forum. DCHALL has it and should provide some info for you.
